No one can understand why he quit after 4 games.

well, didn't the staff string him along so that he didn't transfer before the season? he was named the starter, and how many series did he get? One?

Hell, Hurts is a true freshman so he's not likely to get back in unless Hurts get hurt.

tempest in a teapot.

bama will be fine. I for one am not going to worry about them if they have to go to another qb because of injury, arrest, etc. they'be been doing fine with next man up.

I'm glad you were able to get that off your chest.

I'm sure it has been bothering the shite out of you for over 48 hours.

He was in the running for the staring job throughout fall camp and through the USC game. He got multiple series and opportunities.

Can you really say they strung him along when he was competing with a true freshman? There was no way to know if Hurts would be able to handle the role, even if they liked him in practice. I'm sure they wanted to keep their options open.

I'm over it, but Barnett had plenty of chances to take the position and just didn't do it. That's not on anybody but him.

His username isnt capitalized either. He's either a heathen or his shift key is broken

Or he could've had caps lock on and was going crazy on the shift key.

Kevin Sumlin has lost control of the Alabama QB room.

There is a real problem with multiple teams where these 5* QB's getting accustomed to being sucked in HS, and then they quit when they face real competition in college.

The staff gave him chances to be the starter but the stage was too big for him at first. Then Hurts came in and played well and he took the job.

It's about opportunity.

He'll land somewhere and he'll be fine. Alabama will be fine. It's victimless situation.

While I agree with your statement, I really don't know why he thinks he'll be starting for a team 5 games into a season; I figured Barnett would transfer, I just thought it'd be after the season. Usually the QB situation is mostly settled by the fifth game of the season, for most teams any way...from what I've read that's why McElwain supposedly wouldn't guarantee Grier his job as a starter back when he would be eligible after his PED suspension. I think Barnett is very talented and will probably do well wherever he transfers...I just don't think he's likely to do it in the middle of next season.

he was in a legit battle all fall camp to earn the starting job. he started the first game of the season.

first two series of the game. went 0-1 and a sack on two drop backs on first drive (punt). went 2-2 for 3 yards (1 yard completion followed by a 2 yard completion) on second drive (punt).

Looked deer in headlights. I'm sure you could find a post from that game where non-Bama fans were calling him out.

Hurts came in and played well. Pretty simple.

breaking news! the Alabama administration, office of the Athletic Director and staff, coaching staff, and fan base never make mistakes or commit errors.

anyone who thinks they do is a POS. anyone who ever denies that Alabama is the greatest in everything is a POS.

I don't even know why Alabama just doesn't have their own league with no other teams in it so they can just have the crown every year. no one else can do anything.

hail Alabama. hail their wonderful fanbase. long live Alabama. if you look in your Webster's under perfection you'll find the University of Alabama. anyone who ever has the slightest problem with that is a POS.

Oh, one other thing, and this isn't really a criticism. they can't be happy being the best unless you fall down slobbering and fawning and praising even their fans. otherwise, you're a POS and they're furious.

Wtf? Why you so mad? According to your fanbase you're about to hire the greatest coach of all time and go undefeated the next 20 seasons. You should be happy.

Yeah, that why he got the opening night start against USC. ...because the staff was stringing him along.

He's not ready to be starter, but his ego obviously can't accept that.

How the Hell does one get strung along by being named starter in the season opener against, at least at the time, a Top 20 opponent? What would even be the point? Think about what you just said.
