Would you rather your team win one National Championship then go into several decades of losing seasons or maintain several decades of top 10 finishes, top recruiting classes, players winning awards etc but never reaching the pinnacle of winning a National Championship?

Our crystal ball looks a lot better than your empty trophy case if that is what you are asking

Yep. I would just cling onto that moment. Even after we sucked for the next 40-50 years after the NC.

So basically I would just become an Auburn fan.

How long is several decades, exactly? I'd take Auburn's situation in a heartbeat where we win a title then suck for a few years. I'd take winning a title then going 5-7 the next 5 years.

But I mean if you're talking like 30 years of "losing seasons", that would just seem like a really crappy way to go through life supporting your team. 5 years after the championship those memories would fade a bit, but then you'd still have 20 years of shite. I mean that's most of your adult life with having a losing program.

A natty, followed by several decades of losing seasons? No way--give me several decades of top 10 finishes.
A NC, followed by several years/one decade of losing? I'd take the NC.

I was reading a few posts over the weekend but I couldn't post until my account got verified. Apparently mods don't log on but every 4-5 days... Although a friend told me if I picked LSU as my favorite team it would be approved instantly and I would never get a ban.

So....we're choosing between Auburn and Georgia?

I'll go with UGA.

So you're asking if it's better to be Auburn or Georgia? Got it.

Yep. And the answer is clearly Georgia.

This. The OP said several decades, I'll take that as 30 years. I'm 27, so if we won the national title this year I'd be almost 60 by the time we're nationally relevant again, that sounds absolutely miserable.

On the other hand, if my other option is winning it this year then having several UT/AU like down years with one atrocious season in there as well for the next ooooh 5 or 6 years..I'd take that in a heartbeat.

that's exactly what I'm talking about. Would you sacrifice success for the majority of your adult life for one magical year and getting the ultimate goal of winning it all or just be content near the top but always ending the season with disappointment?

It depends on how long your team is going to suck. I'd take a natty followed by three or four rough seasons and then back to consistent success any day over never winning one.
