So many bad calls (for both teams) last night LSU vs Auburn. The strike zone was inconsistent and the last strike out in the 9th should have been a ball. There were so many errors by the umps.

Little known baseball rule is that the runner doesn't have to touch first base.

Without being hyperbolic, that has to be the worst call in baseball history right?

You didn't even need a replay to see he didn't even come anywhere close to touching the base. Also don't know what the Auburn player was thinking by trying to go to 2nd on that play

Because second base looked unoccupied with the entire infield arguing at first base. But the fastest CF in the country was actually sprinting in, covering second for the traditional 3-8 put out.

If he doesn't have to touch first base, then wouldn't the runner always be safe at first? All bases have to be touched. If a player hits a home run and misses first base, the infield can contest and throw to first touch bag and he is out. Just like any other base on the base path

The runner clearly crossed the plane of the base. Upon further review, the play on the field stands as called.

He felt bad the ump blew that call 2 different ways so he did justice by getting thrown out

LOL at you not knowing the batter/runner doesn't have to ACTUALLY touch first base. He just has to cross the vertical plane.

He probably though, "well Chinea is standing on 1st with the baseball, might as well try to run to 2nd while he's looking at the ump and see if I can get away with it."

you have to touch the base. you can't jump over it. the ump missed the call.

badly.

Wow.... that is bad.(did the runner score?.. can not watch Auburn baseball...

The last ball called a strike was bad, but on call does not cost the game. Still sucks to end it that way.
