“However, it’s apparent in evaluating the program through the first month of the season that a change has to be made. Our commitment to excellence and competing at the highest level is unwavering, and our goals for the remainder of this season haven’t changed. We have an obligation to our student-athletes to put them in the best position to have success on the football field each week and we have great confidence that coach Orgeron will do just that.”

“I wasn’t going to get in a situation where I’m bidding with other schools. It came down to getting the best coach,” Alleva said. “At the end of the day after I met with Ed yesterday and the presentation he made to me about the future of this program, and the fact that Ed is the best recruiter in the country, he demonstrated his unbelievable ability to motivate the kids.

“I know we’re going to assemble a great staff. The names we are talking about are unbelievable. With that combination, he’s the best option we have here at LSU and there’s no doubt in my mind he’s going to hit the ground running.”

The day Alleva hired Orgeron as HC, the day LSU started its descent into an average, second tier program. We will be average for the forseeable future.

Actually that day came when you beat Aggie and then you kept Les around for a wasted season to make the soccer moms happy.

Well being as they haven't beaten us since they came into the league, odds are on their side to finally win one.

It's amazing that a D-Line coach with a mouth full of marbles could end up as the head coach of -- not one, but two -- of the most storied programs in college football history.

Failing upward is a real thing, apparently.
