at first glance, it looks like our defense should be better due to the age/experience

Everett Sr.
Matthews Sr.
Alonzo Jr.
Robinson Sr.
Baggs Sr
Bass Sr.
Raven sr
Burns Jr

but, as you break it down, it's not pretty:

quote:

2010 - Robinson was a 3-Star who didn't think he'd play this year.
2011 - Everett was a 3-Star
2011 - Baggs was a 3-Star
2011 - Burns was a 3-Star

2011 - Matthews was a 4-Star
2011 - Raven was a 4-Star

2012 - Alonzo Williams 3-Star TE recruit

Was Bass even recruited? Did he go baseball first?

Let's not pretend we have stacked the talent on Defense.

We have 2 guys starting on D that were playing HS last year. one recruited to play baseball, one recruited to be TE and one that believed his career was over, after Duke.

WE have 7 more true freshman on our 2-Deep chart. Of the 31 players on our 2-Deep... 9 were in HS last year.

now, compare this to Alabama (who absolutely cleaned our clock)

2010
Nick Perry - 4 Star S

2011
Trey DePriest - 5 Star ILB
Xzavier Dickson - 4 Star SDE

2012
Landon Collins - 5 Star Safety
Reggie Ragland - 4 Star ILB
Cyrus Jones - 4 Star CB

2013
Jonathan Allen - 5 Star OLB
A'SHawn Robinson - 5 Star OT converted to NT

this is why we suck so hard on defense. all of our 4* and 5* talent are YOUNG guys (garrett, watts, hall, etc.). All of our upperclassmen are average AT BEST.

and average won't get jack **** done in the SEC

WGAF about stars?

State has the meanest D line in the conference, they MIGHT have one 4 star among the whole rotation. Ol Miss has a 5 and 2 4's in the secondary, and they look like the seahawks out there.

after two years, what star you had doesn't matter. It's all about how much work you put in

-Robinson was a composite 4-star on 247
-DeVante Harris (junior) was a 4-star
-Obioha is a junior (3-star)

You suck because of coaching and development.

Number of stars is based on when a HS recruit can play in college. So, a 5* has a chance to play in his freshmen year. A 4* could play, but has an area he needs to work on (strength, etc). By the time they are Jr and Sr, it is on the coaching staff if they are not playing well.

No, but they should move Sabian Holmes to DB. At least there when he drops a pass it's still a positive.
