A guy that teams with BB coaching vacancies should look at : Steve Forbes, ETSU

Forbes was Pearl's right hand man at Tennessee and was/is a dynamite recruiter. He got fired in all the BBQ stuff and has done nothing but win since.
2011- 2013 : 61-6 at NW FLA CC with 2 national runners up
2013-2015 : assistant at Wichita State
2015-2017 : 40-17 at ETSU. ETSU has a solid basketball history and per KenPom this is the best ETSU team since 2002. By far (60th, 2nd best was 86th in 2004 when they were a 13 seed).
They run an awesome style and do it incredibly well. He knows the SEC and would immediately recruit lights out.

A lot of Auburn people were very disappointed that we weren't going to grab him from Wichita State

He's really, really good. Great recruiter and really good basketball coach in general and has proven it everywhere he has been. Somebody is going to get a massive steal because of the BBQ stuff scaring off what should be big time interest.

Since we want to fire our coach every year we always get a litany of names all year round. This is one of the guys mentioned on our boards.

Are you talking about Northwest Florida State College? The FSU part threw me. Yeah, that guy is a helluva coach.
All these Jucos in Florida dropping the Junior College moniker in favor of XYZ "State College" is rather silly but that's what they are all doing. You're STILL a Juco!!

If he was just one of the casualties back in 2011, why should anyone care?
The only concern should be the light resume even though it looks good so far.

Same reason people cared so much with Pearl that the only big job he could get was Auburn. A lot of placed don't want to touch that with a 10 foot pole.

From Bruce's super successful run at Tennessee, none of the assistants had soft landings.
Idk what the stigma is, but it is weird to think "just casualties" from that level of success ended up in JUCO (Forbes), North Dakota (Shay) and out of a job (Tony Jones)

would be a home run hire for a school looking to take some risks.

Forbes is a fantastic coach. I was happy and pleasantly surprised that UT was able to go up to Johnson City this year and grab the W.
He was a huge reason for the success that Pearl experienced while at UT. Pearls staff was excellent while he was on the hill. His assistants at Auburn don't seem to be of the same quality imo.

Used to go to ETSU games during the Tim Smith glory years. Was a blast.
