basketball player changed the future landscape of college football (and maybe pro too.)

Sean Tuohy is the one who suggested Michigan State Coach Nick Saban to then LSU AD Joe Dean in Dec. 1999. He knew Saban's agent Jimmy Sexton.

It is not clear if LSU would have pursued or included Saban in their coaching search without Tuohy's reference; that's speculative.

What is food for thought is that had Saban not left Lansing then (he almost didn't come), who knows who would have ended up in Baton Rouge in 2000, in Tuscaloosa in 2007, and where Brees would have ended up in 2006 ?????

So now Les Miles has Ole Miss to thank for his recruits and titles.

This explains why Michael Oher liked Saban so much.

Also, what does this have to do with Brees?

Uh, yeah, possibly.
And Ole Miss has Tuohy to thank for not winning the West outright in 2003.

It's possible whoever would have been Miami's coach would not have failed Brees on his physical or would have signed him anyway in 2006 (that is if Brees still would have been interested in Miami). So he might not have landed in NOLA....

I would think that is a medical staff decision.

Saban to OSU in 2001 instead of Tressel? Who knows, Tuohy might have changed the landscape of college football.

Thanks for the clarification. If it's not about Deuce or Archie, I don't really care about the Saints.

Joe Dean had nothing, zero, nada, to do with Saban being hired by LSU. Mark Emmert kept Dean completely out of the loop. Emmert was 100% in complete control of the entire head football coach hire in 1999.

Saban never, and I mean never, would have come to LSU had Joe Dean been involved in the hire.

If Seattle runs the ball.............
If no rematch in 2011...............
If OL stays healthy in 2012............
If Lebron makes the shot............

If, ifs and butts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

Who was luckier that Tuohy made that suggestion?
A.LSU
B.Bama
C. or the idiot that turned down the Texas gig and will now watch Urban Meyer be considered the best of the era.

You think Saban failed Brees?

apparently he does. Because anyone who is even slightly informed knows that Saban was furious that they wouldn't let him sign Brees. Yet somehow they cleared Culpepper.

It's why I loooooovvvvve me done Miami team doctors. Because it worked out fantastically for both of my favorite football teams.

You're right Tammany, forgot Emmert was in charge back then....

You're right JustGetItRight and CCTider.

I didn't mean Saban himself, I meant it in the context that whatever coach would have been there might have failed him.
Yes Saban definitely preferred Brees over Culpepper.

The Miami team doctors also ensured the future Lombardi Trophy for the Saints
