The biggest news is that there were no injuries and Boykin and Washington will be back shortly.

-Tree had 8 tackles.
-Herrera had a 65 yard fumble (by -Samuel ) recovery for a TD.
-Robinson looked good.
-Jarvis had 3 sacks.
-Jenkins ran mostly with the 2s.
-Richt said the 2nd RBs (Ken and CT) didn't have near as much room as Isaiah and RS did.
-Richt said he thought Murray missed a few throws. Said it would have been a fine scrimmage if he was still a freshman but expects more out of him now.
-Walsh was 7/8 on field goals with a long of 58.
-Bogotay hit a 68 yard FG using a tee.

That sucks.

Crowell is supposed to house it everytime he touches the ball and Jenkins is supposed to tackle everyone at the line scrimmage for no gain everytime.

That is what happened, but we're not gonna release that in the stats for Boise to see. Obvers.

Samuel still can't hold onto the football? Isn't that why he was moved to lb?

He was moved to LB because, like James Wilder, it's his natural position. Not to mention we had Knowshon at the time, Samuel was like 17 years old so he could use a redshirt anyway, and it just made sense. And oh yeah, he fumbled.

He would've stayed there but our top 2 RBs are no longer with us, leaving us 2 freshmen and a scrub going into the year. He was moved to RB basically out of necessity. Buuuut even though he's running with the 1s now, I suspect it won't be too long before Crow/Malcome get the majority of the carries.

I will say though, Coach Friend's drive blocking OL scheme will greatly benefit Samuel compared to Searels's zone blocking.

And will hopefully protect our boys knees.

That "gap opening" 45 degree turn plays havoc on ACLs when the line have little experience

Not so much...Knowshon left after 2008, Samuel made his move to LB in 2010 and then redshirted him. The reason he was moved was that we thought King and Ealey had burst onto the scene with their performances against Tech at the end of the 2009 season and we needed athletic bodies at ILB.

Love it. All of it. I don't want to hear "We had a perfect scrimmage, Murray was 10/10 with 10 TD's and Crowell ran for 6 more TD's and the #1 Defense flat killed the #2 Offense on every single possesion." That'd be a bunch of bullshite. Sounds like Ogletree will be a stalwart at ILB, Jarvis Jones is going to hardly be a misstep from Justin Houston, three wide receivers (King, Brown, and Bennett) have really arrived and made themselves known in camp, Shawn Williams is showing out at Safety, the #1 OL is doing their jobs well, and despite that damn fumble, Richard Samuel is operating at a 7yards/carry clip. Also, sounds like Crowell isn't having any woesome issues at pass blocking either. Very, very encouraging day, and an endless month through which to grow and get better as a team.

As I've said elsewhere, this could be Richt's last year. If it is, give the man credit: he's pulled out all the stops to try and correct what he can for this season. If it falls short, then it's just a damn shame and we're going to have to make a damn good hire to turn things around
