A big thank you to Lord Saban for rolling over against tOSU

The morning DJ (Greg) for the alternative station here in Portland is an Alabama native, cat lover and big time Tide fan. He observed this morning that as a longtime Oregon resident it was a blessing in disguise that Bama lost to Ohio State as it saved him a lot of ribbing had the Ducks dethroned the mighty Tide. He said (and I agree) that Duck fans would never let him hear the end of it.

A loss to Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes is far easier to swallow. Had the Ducks played (and beaten) Bama, it would have allowed an impending Duck Dynasty narrative to get wings in the media...all because they beat the mighty SEC's best team. Can you see the SI covers?

If the Ducks beat Ohio State it'll just be "Well, it was only Ohio State. The B1G wasn't really that good this year anyway. This proves nothing. They didn't have to play any SEC teams."

So major props to Lord Saban for recognizing the danger in playing the Ducks this year and finding a more honorable exit from the playoff that gives him more time to plan for next season.

And belated thanks to Auburn for postponing the impending Duck Dynasty for at least 4 years.

I can't quite put my finger on which horse to bet on January 12 but I think Ohio State wins by a nose. Urban Meyer smells like a winner to me.
