So now we can blame the 76ers for ruining his career?

I was told by the rant that LSU did that.

Where do you think his time would have been better spent over the past year - LSU or Duke?

He got a hell lot more exposure at LSU.

I feel more sorry for the 76ers. He didn't prove to be much of a leader or team player by the end of the year.

Huge risk. Kid's got talent but his attitude is questionable. If he improves that, the payoff will be worth it. If not, he could be the next Bowie or Oden (albeit, for different reasons.)

He's going to be the #1 pick. That wouldn't change if he went to Duke.

Kid led the nation in scoring, rebounding, and assists for a bit. Give him a little credit, Jesus.

You think Simmons got more exposure at LSU than he would have gotten at Duke but you think I'm the stupid one?

He would've gotten more exposure at Duke and it isn't even a question. First of all, Duke is on TV more than Leave it to Beaver re-runs (hat tip to Pete Gillen). Second, if Simmons was on Duke he'd have been surrounded by better players and better coaching. He'd have helped get them over the hump and potentially to a Final Four or National title. THAT is absolutely more exposure than he got for a mediocre LSU team.

Perhaps advice you may want to consider following yourself.

Agreed that he still would have been the #1 pick. My contention is that he'd have been better prepared to transition to NBA after a year of being coached by Coach K than after a year of being coached by Johnny Jones. Being better prepared for the transition as a result of better coaching = being better prepared to succeed at a high level = being better able to maximize earning potential off the court.

That's my point. He's going #1 and he will be a success, no doubt. My point is simply that he'd have been better positioned to be more successful more quickly and maximize his earning potential from endorsements (due to that success and to a better brand entering the league) had he gone to Duke or UK.

Fitting, considering the dumpster fire of a program LSU has become.
