1. Alabama is the team to beat this year.
Chest Tat brought more to Alabama than we think. We'll likely realize it in a couple years. Saban's amassed ridiculous talent like he always does. His coaching staff has turned over enough to where he doesn't have the best assistants in the country anymore. He's got retread failed head coaches and yes men that don't have the moxie to be the head men at any school, much less a big D1 institution. This version of the Crimson Tide lacks clear leaders and expecting a transfer to waltz in and lead a group of superstars that have always been the best in their home area all of their lives is going to be a difficult task. If Coker's not the answer at QB then the Gumps may have a rough year in the SEC where the gap between the top team and the 6th best is sharply decreasing. Auburn and S. Carolina are the teams to beat this year.

2. Missouri is going to disappear.
As much as we'd probably like for them to disappear from the SEC, Pinkel has a very capable team coming back. Mizzou probably has the best group of QB's in the league and one of the better offenses designed to give QB's favorable match ups and get WR's open. Losing DGB is addition by subtraction. He'd have been a distraction and he would have screwed up again having been acquiesced to his entire life because of his athletic talents. Mizzou doesn't have to have 5 star WR's to be successful. They have a pretty decent and experienced OL (despite starting one of the pussy Hall brothers), RB's that can get yards, WR's that can catch, and a QB that can be efficient and make plays. Their Defense has question marks. They replace a lot, but they're just moving guys up a slot. They rotated a lot of players on D and got a bunch of experience for their returners. Mizzou will be better than 4th in the East.

3. Florida will be back this year
No. Just plain no. Boom is not an elite HC. He was a very, very good DC but he lacks severely when it comes to building a complete football team. They have talent sure, Florida will always have now thanks to Spurrier, the population shift, and the SEC's popularity. It's simply not in Muschamp's DNA to bring people together and rally them up, he's a heel. He learned from Saban and like Bo Pelini he thinks he needs to lead by fear and intimidation. With a roster full of kids from fatherless homes that tactic really doesn't work if the kids aren't self motivated to push themselves. Florida is changing offenses again, they'll be improved but they won't be competing for Atlanta. I see Florida finishing 4th in the East behind Georgia.

4. Arkansas will be dead last again
We've come to learn that Brandon Allen didn't even practice after getting hurt in week 3. The backups were so bad Allen played with a doped up shoulder and could barely feel his arm. His dead arm throws looked exactly like what they were. Allen's at 100% again, he's in command of the offense and team and he's not a guy I personally trust to win games, he's what we have and he'll have to do it. Arkansas will be markedly improved across the board this season. They pissed away wins at Florida, Rutgers, and LSU. A fumble in OT inside the 5 yard line gave the Grind new life and sucked the confidence right out of Razorback Stadium. The Arky OL only gave up 8 sacks all year, the walk-on starter at LT has graduated and the 6'10 325lb skyscraper Dan Skipper has slid over, opening up a spot for an all conference 3 year starter transferring in from UNLV to man the LG, the C started as a freshman at RG for us, our RG is the best OL on the team and was all-SEC Freshman, and our RT has loads of starting experience. TE's have gotten bigger and better. Freshman All American Hunter Henry is healthy after playing banged up last year, Sprinkle has added 20 lbs, Back up QB AJ Derby is now a TE and playing at 6-5 250. TE will continue to be a weapon for the Hogs . The biggest surprise in the SEC this coming year will be that the Arkansas DL will be top 3 in the league. New DL Rory Segrest has All-SEC DE Trey Flowers to lead the line, we'll be starting 2 smaller but lightning quick DT's to disrupt the interior and shoot gaps being aggressive to the ball and creating confusion for LB blitzes to capitalize on. We have 3 matching 6-5 270lbs DE's opposite of Flowers. The LB's will be aggressive this year, the class of freshman LBs will push slow upperclassmen with bad technique out of the way. Otha Peters already transferred this week, Braylon Mitchell's PT is gonna fall of a cliff when Randy Ramsey gets comfortable. Ramsey will be disruptive and reminds me of a bigger faster Jerico Nelson. The Arkansa secondary will still be a weak spot but the newcomers are showing promise and ability, there are fierce competitions for pt in the secondary. If it all comes together for the Hogs, they will be a team that will cause problems for lots of teams.

5. Auburn was a fluke
frick Gus. I saw too many games that he coached at Shiloh. Shiloh ran a more complex offense in the early 2000's than what they've been running at Auburn. Gus has many more tricks up his sleeve. Aubies won't admit it but Gus is from Houston Nutt's coaching bush. After serving with Houston Nutt he changed his approach of throwing 70 times a game to running 50 times a game and throwing when you have to. One of the things that Gus does really damn well and people on the national scene have to give him credit for is how he prepares his team. His simplistic approach that operates in the gray and the fringes of the rulebook on and off the field allows for very sharp cohesive play. I noticed it when Shiloh lined up against my school, those kids all knew the playbook and what their role was and what everyone would be doing. Having a mental edge gives you confidence to play fast and play hard. Gus preps his teams really well, and they typically play intelligently and they are adaptable enough and smart enough to recognize where adjustments need to be made and they'll capitalize on being better prepared and better drilled. Auburn could win the west without question again this year, no miracles needed but seriously frick Gus.

6. Texas A&M is a Top 25 team
The coaches put A&M at #20 in the preseason poll. I'm pretty sure it's a practical joke. The biggest loss to A&M this season is not having Mike Evans. Evans bailed Manziel out so many times over the last 2 years. JFF would throw prayers to no-one and Evans would go get the ball and score. It's obvious that Sumlin is recruiting Evans clones and is building a team of 6-6 WR's that can go sky on DB's and save his shitty QB's arse time and time again. Sumlin is the Bobby Petrino with a mini-fro except that he can close on the recruiting trail. His defense is a picket fence, defensive starters have dropped like flies in the off-season, his attrition rates from his signing classes are becoming laughable, there's a serious problem with accountability and authority in College Station. A&M is going to give up 30-40 points to every SEC team, and I don't think they can outscore more than 4 of them. A&M can beat Arkansas, LSU, Mississippi St, and Ole Miss. Auburn, Bama, USCjr, and Mizzou will roll them, the Mississippi schools will split, Arkansas can beat A&M and it'll likely go to the wire, and LSU is a toss up if LSU gives up on the season by Thanksgiving. In short, A&M is gonna suck and suck hard.

7. The SEC will have 2 teams in the playoff
We'll get one just because there won't be 4 teams better than our best team. This will be a year of transition for many teams. There's new QB's all over the place, the teams that have QB's coming back are fringe teams looking to make a jump up in the pecking order. Vandy seems destined to slide back to obscurity but I think they'll be a tougher out than most will give them credit for. Tennessee could sneak up on some teams this year. Butch has them believing but I don't think he's a long term success type of persona. LSU good be pretty decent or pretty bad, but no-one sees them being pretty good and a Top 5 team at the end of the year. UGA seems like they can be counted on to disappoint. During the Championship streak the SEC was always top heavy. 2 sometimes 3 elite teams, another 3 good teams, a couple fringey wildcards and a couple dumpster fires. This season looks like all the dumpster fires could be put out, there might be some entertaining melts by power teams, and parity could be confused with inconsistency. There's been a crazy amount of Star Power leave the conference in the last year, the void this year will allow teams like Ohio St., Wisconsin, UCLA, Michigan St., Stanford, Oregon, USC, Oklahoma, Baylor, Clemson and of course Florida St. to get hot and go on a run over an inferior conference half full of patsies to finish the year with good records that will squeeze a 2 loss SEC team out of the playoff.

Thanks for fricking it up Auburn.

So, Bo Wallace plays on a bum shoulder for a year and a half and he sucks according to all those on tRant. But Brandon Allen plays on a bum shoulder and it's all good.

Alabama will always be the team to beat.
Missouri will take a slight step back. Probably to second or third in the east.
Florida will never be back under boom
Arkansas will piss in some Cheerios this year
Auburn is the definition of a fluke. Cam and hail Mary's have been a common theme when they are "good"
Texas arse to mouth will find their way to the cellar like they did in the big 12
And the SEC won't have two teams in because what would every conference say if we did on the first playoff? They will elect 4 different conferences to be PC.

I somewhat agree with you about Arkansas. If it were 2008, the hogs would be a big sleeper for the West title. But our division has gotten so ridiculously stacked that someone has to finish last.

I keep saying LSU will be around 10-3, and I probably rotate who those three will be every day every game is a toss-up now it seems

I think LSU is gonna surprise some people. Not like you are supposed to be bad, but everyone is talking Bama, Auburn, and the Mississippi schools. IMO y'all could win a natty this year or have a more surprisingly bad season than the norm. It honestly could go either way.

That's probably because I'm not killz. Jesus. I see why Auburn fans are buying into Gus. Y'all are sooo gullible. Y'all thought cheezdick was a miracle worker before he went winless in SEC.

My, how the mighty has fallen... Since when did LSU get grouped with Arky, State, and Ole Miss?
