Dave Aranda, LSU defensive coordinator

He does not impress me as someone who would want to be a CFB HC who has to sell the program and such. He is an extreme analyst and seems to enjoy that. I am more worried that he goes to the NFL as a DC and from there I could see him going to NFL HC. In the NFL you just analyze talent, buy it, and work with it. That is a whole lot less "used car salesman" that CFB coaches have to be.

LSU has priced him out of the market for a small to mid level CFB program so if someone wants to come get him they will have to take a chance on him at a bigger school.

Pruitt is a long way from being ready for HC job. It was just a few short years ago that he was HS assistant

-Never been a HC in his career.
-Always been at elite programs known for elite defense
-Always had elite talent, stocked with depth and elite top ranked prospects
-Always been under a HC considered top 2 in their programs history

I can't wait to see Pruitt with full control of a program.

I live 20 minutes from the Vol campus, know people inside the athletic department.

Can't take all the credit.

You might be right but I feel like many feel into that description but eventually money talks, although LSU isn't going to make it cheap

So it basically has to happen for LSU this year otherwise they're stuck with a new offensive and defensive systems with Coach O leading the way. Yikes.

No doubt. That's why I share his "What's Asparagus?" video whenever relevant.

Pruitt is a snake oil salesman. It makes him a good recruiter though.

He's not head coach material.

But hell, half the SEC head coaches right now aren't head coach material.

At least LSU doesn't have to worry about Aggy either way

One thing about Canada & Aranda is they are both being paid higher than most head coaches already.

He isn't as bad as you make it out to be. He isn't head coach material but he is damn good as a defensive coach.

Just reading the tea leaves, Aranda's next stop is likely NFL DC. It definitely seems to be what he wants. I don't blame him.

I'm just happy to have him at LSU one more year.

One thing is for sure. LSU could hire me as DC and we still wouldn't need to worry about beating Aggy.

Aranda strikes me as a Bud Foster type- damn good at what he does, but knows his limitations and is not overly ambitious. Could be a career DC making good bank and being happy with that.

Pruitt is a ladder climber extraordinaire. He's good but has also carefully put himself in good situations and left as soon as that situation peaked or a better offer came along. He'll get a shot at the big job; it'll be interesting to see what he does with it. I like Pruitt's work, but not a fan of the person. He's very Machiavellian. And can be a first class prick. I think the only reason he hasn't had a run-in with Saban yet is he's smart enough to keep his mouth shut.

So basically, both signed several year contracts. Canada is here for the foreseeable future. Aranda is the one who might go to the NFL in the future, but he's the Asst Head Coach at LSU now, so you never know what he might be thinking about the head coaching job down the road if it comes to that....

So basically, it will happen for LSU for several years with the current offensive and defensive systems with Coach O leading the way and adding to his 6-2 record from a year ago.
