5 of the 32 allegations are related to football

The NCAA has formally notified Mississippi's athletic department of allegations of "roughly 30 violations" across the Rebels' football, women's basketball and track and field programs, Yahoo's Pat Forde reported Friday.
One Ole Miss source tells Steven Godfrey they believe only five of the 32 are alleged football violations, and that coaches are "confident" allegations related to the current staff are secondary violations. In addition, an NCAA source tells Bud Elliott that the "vast majority" of the football allegations are more than two years old.
Forde reports Ole Miss has received an official Notice of Allegations from the NCAA, a formal step that precedes any official declarations of wrongdoing or sanctions:
The school has received a Notice of Allegations from the NCAA enforcement staff alleging roughly 30 violations in football, women's basketball and track and field, sources told Yahoo. It is unclear at present what the breakdown is in terms of violations by sport. The NCAA does not comment on current, pending or potential investigations.
The program has been under institutional fire for some time. Star offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil took a seven-game suspension last season for receiving "impermissible extra benefits," and it's been three years since people started to loudly accuse Freeze of recruiting impropriety.
An Ole Miss official told Godfrey that almost all of the allegations are women's basketball, track, Tunsil, and football from six years ago, during previous coach Houston Nutt's tenure.

That is enough for about a 20 scholarship reduction over 3 years

Of course but this won't stop the melt.

So, is a vast majority 3 out of the 5...or 4 out of the 5?

I would say 4 out of 5.
But using vast majority when the overall total is 5 sounds stupid.

Unless Pat Forde says it, I don't believe it.

Can't quantify "vast"? I'm guessing 3 or 4.

And 3 years of no post season. They might even exclude a couple of year of TV appearances. Hell the SEC may not allow them to participate in the revenue split for a year or 2.

you don't know how this works. How many minor violations did bama self report last year?

What would you expect an Ole Miss "source" to say. That's exactly what I would say.
But we waren't going to know the details until the NCAA releases the information they choose.
Doing this the Friday before signing day strikes me as a power move and appears the hammer is coming.

I was thinking the same thing. Either their wording is horrible or there's more than 5 allegations towards football. Supposedly this is just the first of 2 NOAs though, the 2nd one pertaining to what they've uncovered since the Tunsil allegations pertaining to football. We shall see.

so Ole Miss' AD tweets that the AD is bound not to disclose anything about these allegations, yet Pat Forde somehow knows how many infractions there are, what they are, and how many relate to the football team? I'd love to know his source

Doesn't matter still putting light on the program

Well there is a difference in violations that a school reports, and violations that are found after the school supposedly already reported all the violations they found. So one top of the violations that Ole Miss already reported on themselves as per standard procedure, the NCAA found more that they hid.

The only violation under the current staff is reported to be sorantable making sweet love to recruits. It's how we seal the deal with the big time recruits. Sources indicate the NCAA doesn't want to get involved in it, however.

If true--and football aside--the Ole Miss AD needs to get a better handle on the athletics program.

Ouch. While most are supposedly secondary.. with so many.. I wonder if they will hit the University with a lack of institutional control.. That's a lot of violations.
