Did you even read the article?

It says they can put 600 and 700 on the bar. He reps it with ease. They need a different bar to allow him to workout even heavier and also for maxing out.

Of course the aggies need special bars. Straight bars dont really have the preferred clientele

2008, UT's OL Jacques McClendon bench pressed 645. Another OL on the team (Vlad Richard) bench pressed 615. Tennessee (preseason top 5) couldn't score on offense and their losing led to the dismissal of future HOF coach Phil Fulmer.

You read that right...each bench pressed over 600 pounds, and their unit was so ineffective it got their HC fired.

I guess A&M is going to take a little time to get adjusted to having top defensive players. LSU has a player on the roster with a similar build to Mack that is incredibly strong. Mickey Johnson has a 545lb bench and a 735lb squat. Kid rarely sees the field but we're not having to order special bars and shite.

Trent Richardson use to squat 700lbs and weighed 100 lbs less the Daylon...

For an University that claims to have so much money and the best equipment why is yalls weight room so poor?

A strong squat is way more useful in football than a high bench press

You're really comparing a mid-level 4 star to the Under Armour All-American game DMVP?

Daylon would start day one at LSU

That's because 735 is his max. Daylon can do that for reps

The most that anyone can bench press while standing up is 41% of their body weight, so the max bench press is really a poor indicator of how a player will perform on the football field. The squat OTOH has all sorts of implications. A guy that's short, heavy, and has strong legs is difficult to move.

Yes, but squatting over 700lbs isn't some freakish event. It's pretty common around power 5 football teams.

So what will the excuse be when the LSU OL puts him on his arse for 60 minutes like they did with your DL every other year?

You kind of need both when you're in the trenches trying to deal with someone across from you that's just as strong or stronger AND has a 6" reach advantage.

I wouldn't be surprised if Daylon could do 800+

McClendon could squat, too. Bench = 645; Squat = 730; Performance = Suck

If 600lbs requires a special bar at aTm then what bar were the D linemen at Arkansas squatting over 700lbs using?

They were lifting Bielema. After all Bert is fat.
