The NFL doesn't want a 4.9 WR? Crazy.

Patriots signed him as FA. Bear should've stayed for senior year though

this one surprises me. I know his 40 was slow, but he always gave Bama trouble. I would have thought some team would take a chance in the 5-7 round range.

Teams don't take chances on slow receivers.

Jarvis Landry ran a 4.77 and he is doing pretty good in the league.

If you are projected anywhere from 4th to undrafted you are a total idiot to declare early unless you already have your degree. And even then you should stay and get a free masters.

Belichick took a free agent stab at him, though. He's a really big receiver. A 4.78 might be just enough for him to get a roster spot.

Not really a fair comparison. Landry was ready to play in the NFL immediately because of his hands and route running skills. Wilson is more of a raw athlete from what I can tell.

Ran a 4.85 40, that's terrible. Also backed that up with a 4.78 at pro day...speed a gigantic issue

Landry ran a 4.58 at pro day, Wilson 4.78, so that's still really slow for Wilson

Also Landry was an elite route runner and had elite hands/range.

I think we only had one upperclassmen declare this year and he was drafted.

In addition to plain stupidity, think about how many of these kids had grownups telling them to do it. Too much greed by "trusted" adults hoping to cash in plays a role.

Probably right. Coaches like Saban and Miles and others; I'm sure try to talk them out of it; but as Hugh Freeze would say, "Money is the root of all evil."

Biggest loser was easily Duke Williams. He should of declared after year one. He fricked up big time.

Yep, said the same thing over on a 247 thread.

Dude was an absolute idiot to come back for senior year, especially under a new QB
