I've seen it before but it was just on ESPN and wanted to comment. Has there ever been 3 different sports athletes at a school, at the same time, better than those 3?

I can't think of any other combo that could top those 3, can you? Who you got?

Frank Thomas is my favorite baseball player of all time.

I was lucky enough as a kid to have parents that took me to Chicago during the 2000 season to watch a game between the White Sox and Cardinals.

Not only did I get to meet Mark McGuire outside a store on Michigan Avenue entering his hotel, Frank hit a home run in the game later that night. It was fricking awesome.

I still have Frank's 1990 Leaf rookie card in immaculate condition.

ETA: Box Score from the game

I also got a broken bat from Fernando Tatis during batting practice. He's the only guy in Major League history to hit two Grand Slams in one inning.

I don't think any other school in the SEC has had that good a combo in the Big 3 sports throughout their history, let alone at the same time.
Auburn is the only SEC school that has a hall of fame player in the Big 3 sports based on their professional careers.

Has any school besides Auburn in the SEC even had an MVP in the NFL, NBA, and MLB?

Hard to beat those three from the three major sports, but they weren't all playing at Auburn at the same time.

True. Alabama needs a basketball player to make it. I think we had this conversation a while back, and no one from Bama still feasible would be anything but a HUGE longshot. I cannot recall the other schools.

Not sure; it's hard to find those lists by school. I tried and found the following:

Alabama
NFL (AP) - Bart Starr (1966), Kenny Stabler (1974), Shaun Alexander (2005)
MLB - Ike Boone was the International League MVP in 1934 :) - but sadly, no MVPs or Cy Young award winners

There is a gap from 1915 to 1924 where there were no AL MVPs awarded. Joe Sewell might have won it in 1921 if there had been, as he batted .318 with 101 runs, 93 RBIs and a .412 on-base percentage in 1921. I'm not saying he would have won, but it's likely the closest one would have come. (Though anyone beating Ruth that year would have required the Babe getting caught doing some crazy stuff) - he did finish third in voting in 1925 at least. ~shrug~. 1925 seems to be a weird year - some dude named Roger Peckinpaugh won it, despite getting beat by Sewell, and even more by Al Simmons, in every relevant stat I can see.

NBA - Easy to confirm this as a no, considering there's only been 31 different winners (Kareem, Michael, Russell, Chamberlain, James, Bird, Johnson and Malone make up 33 of the 61 times the trophy was awarded) - this likely the one that would keep most teams out, as it has only been awarded since 55 and there's not that many people who have won it. Sadly, I'm not up on who played where in school, so for a cursory glance the only other team that I think is on here is LSU (Shaq).

If not for segregation, it's possible Mays or Aaron would have played for Alabama or Auburn as both are from the state. Alas, we will never know.

And to think that it is Bo that never made it to either of his sport's HOF. I consider him to be one of the most freakishly talented athletes to ever live. Just didn't have the long stint in one sport.

Who is the Auburn player in Canton?

ETA: Never mind. Looked it up. Kevin Green and Frank Gatski

Props

Interesting fact:

Bo, Frank and Charles combined to win zero titles.

His numbers aren't bad, but not HoF material. That said, he has enough highlight reel moments to qualify.

I think he's still a long shot, even if it's the only one we've got.

He also has seven rings. The most of anyone since the Celtics in the 60's. Should be in the HOF I/m/o

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just looking at it from both sides.

The only thing that I could come up with that might be close.

Leonard Fournette
Ben Simmons
Alex Lange

Wasn't that a SEC Storied not a 30 for 30?

But as far as pros in different sports at same school at same time, I doubt you will ever top it.
