Give a list of players you think will and could go in the 1st in '17. Obviously all of this is barring injury.
Will:
- Leonard Fournette- Top 5 easy.
- Jamal Adams- Safeties with his mentality and ability are rare. Top 20.
- Malachi Dupre- Will likely be the most physically gifted wideout in next year's class. Top 20.
- Tre White- 4 year starter, was mocked as a 1st rounder this year but decided to return. CB's are at a permium right now. Top 30.
Could:
- Davon Godchaux- I really wanted to put him in the will category but couldnt after A'Shawn and Reeds slide. Godchaux has been a beast for LSU for 2 years. Perfect 3 technique.
- Ethan Pocic- Easily our most athletic Olineman. Reported that he got a 2nd round grade as a C before returning to school. He's kicking out to LT this year and has all the physical tools to be a 1st rounder.
- Kendell Beckwith- Beckwith is not ultra athletic (Jaylon Smith, Myles Jack) but he has incredible instincts and will have great combine numbers. With a very high productive yesr he could play himself into the late 1st.

Nahhhhhhh
Bo Scarborough, no. 1 pick in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Don't ask me how, but it'll happen.

It will be ridiculous next year how many 1st rounders come from SEC schools. I fear that the SEC SEC SEC chants will resurface.

Jalen Tabor should be the first or second corner drafted.
Marcus Maye is possible
No one else sticks out as first rounder. Wilson maybe as well. Could have three Dbs in first round or two go.

BTW this thread reeks of insecurity.

Way too early. These kids need to continue to produce and stay healthy. Godchaux will likely benefit from the new defense, but this could be tough for the linebackers and secondary. This will be the first year that Adams, White, Beckwith are playing in this new 3-4 system. I think you may have to "pump the brakes". Dave Aranda was at Wisconsin from 2013-2015 and he has 3 players that have been drafted to the league (none before the 3rd round).

And many were 3star players... You cannot compare when talent isn't equal.

You think Wisky has the NFL type defenders that LSU and almost every other SEC team fields?

I'm just saying that the scheme matters too. These players weren't recruited to play this scheme and they are needing to make the adjustment before a potential draft year. This is less than optimal.

This isn't 1985. Running backs don't go in the Top 5 anymore. Most don't even go in the first round.
The ones that have gone high have mostly been busts.

Scheme adjustment will be a factor but I think you're overestimating it. Some people are already pegging Godchaux, White, Adams as first rounders and this after a year where they changed schemes.
Aranda is a much better coordinator, they have another year of experience, and playing in a more aggressive scheme should benefit them imo

Derek Barnett.
Cam Sutton should shine under Shoop's playcalling and tutelage. I don't know if he'll make the first but he will be taken high imo.
