Who wins and why? I vote Bama of course

On the offseason scale, I rate this at about a 7 out of 10.

Who was the South Carolina quarterback and coach that year? I don't remember much about that team

That is a hard one. Both teams dominated pro style teams and both are pro style teams.

Bama's powerful running game would blow through the USC defense

Tough call but I think USC. Mett had some success against that defense and Leinart and company had more weapons. I don't think USC would be able to stop Bama either, would probably be a lot like the Texas/SC game where they just trade blows. Lacy, Yeldon, Cooper probably go wild.
2011 Bama eats them for breakfast.

2005 USC wins
2011 Bama would beat both 2012 Bama & 2005 USC

2009 Bama beats all 3 of them.

Bama played at least 3 defenses that were much more physical than USC on defense. Bama had a Mack truck O Line with a freight train RB. And an explosive yet powerful TJ Yeldon (Yeldon was benching 410 as a freshman)
I imagine Lacy would have multiple long runs and Mccarron would hit Bell for a couple of deep bomb TDs. That's not even counting cooper who would be a big problem for USC. And Leinart poses almost no threat running the ball

They would trade blows. But Bama did rush for 350 yards against a defense (Georgia) that was likely much better than SC
And yes 2011 Bama would take Reggie's head off and flatten Leinart on the field. The 2015 front 7 would also punish that SC offensive line (it would not be pretty)

I don't know about that. I like the 2012 offense better and the defenses are on the same level.

2005 USC. People are conveniently forgetting how bad 2012 Bama looked defensively whenever they went up against an offense with a pulse that year (A&M, Georgia, even LSU). 2011 Bama vs. 2005 USC OTOH would be a tossup.

I concur that the 2012 offense was much better. I have to disagree that the 2012 defense was as good as the 2011. I saw both in person. The 2011 defense will go down as the best I have seen in person.

I meant to say they were on the same level as the 09 defense
I also believe the 2011 defense is the greatest of all time
And 2015 was the best front 7 ever

Read who I was replying to. Look at what he said and read what I said. You should get that I said the 09 and 12 defenses are on the same level.

Zach Mettenberger and Aaron Murray were mobile QBs? That's news to me.
