No Alabama 1961... the best ever./

In 1961, Alabama recorded six shutouts and allowed only three touchdowns. Opponents scored just 25 points in 11 games.

Most dominating performance: Alabama shut out Georgia Tech 10-0, holding Tech to six first downs. Alabama limited the Jackets to 96 yards in a game marked by a vicious play that led to the eventual suspension of the series between the two schools.

For trivia's sake, the only rushing TD it allowed was to North Carolina State QB Roman Gabriel

call me unbiased, but I wouldn't put 2015 Bama at #2.

Also no 92 Bama? List is shite.

I really don't think Alabama's defense was THAT great last year. Certainly not better (points and yards wise) than that 2011 defense or even the 2009 one.

Great front seven? Absolutely. And they played some excellent games, but they also gave up 40+ a couple of times.

LOL

Louisville wouldn't have gotten close to 20 points against LSU 2011, much less 33.

Or give up 20 to ULL

or 26 against FSU.

List is a joke.

I would say they are top 5 since 04. Number two may be pushing it.

Now rank them for combined defense/special teams.

IMHO they should easily be #2. They played the national champion twice that year and gave up 1 touchdown.

The 11 LSU D was better then the 15 Bama D. How the hell is the 92 D note on the list? One of the best D of all time. That secondary was world class.
