In his first complete game against Alabama, Cadillac Williams rushed for over 200 yards and scored 2 touchdowns as the Auburn attack grounded out over 500 yards of offense, en route to a 28-23 victory over their hated rival on the Plains.

I remember watching that alabama cheerleader say "war eagle" and thinking, dudes gonna get cut by halftime...

I am sitting in a Pizza Hut across the street from where I watched that game as I type.
It just reminds me how, especially up until Saban's arrival , Bama seems to come out flat in this rivalry.

Man I loved watching Cadillac run. I wish he wouldn't of had so many injuries in the NFL and we could have seen how good he could have been. Before the injuries he won rookie of the year.

Did I say that? Out of all of the Iron Bowl losses this century I've witnessed exactly one (2010) where the "we beat ourselves" line of thought came into play.

Nope but that is the general line to spit out. I agree Saban changed it but except for a couple different years, it is always hard fought. Growing up in the 80's and watching the rivalry gave me perspective if you will.

Haha I didn't remember that Cadillac's next carry after the 80 yarder was getting tackled for a safety.
