Probably the biggest upset in recent memory in this series.

Auburn came into the game unranked, with a 7-4 record and down many of their offensive stars (including future NFL stars Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown).

Alabama came into the game ranked #9 in the country and sporting the #1 offense and the #1 defense in the SEC.

What happened next....I don't think anyone has been able to fully explain it since....

I almost didn't believe you so I looked it up. Wow. That AU team that played us the week before the bama game damn sure didn't seem like an unranked team.

That was a tough season. Barring injuries, that could have been a real, real good team. Definitely one of the more underrated teams in AU history

Without looking it up was his name Trey? That was so demoralizing to watch that kid tear us up.

I never understood how Bama lost that day. Of course, that started the. 6 game losing streak to AU

AU played great but something was off about UA in that game. We were playing as well as anyone in the country at that point in the season. We went for some wierd 4th Downs and could never get rolling on offense.

Fran didn't throw that game but he did sort of half-arse it. Tubberville had AU focused and ready.

Petrino had a heck of a game plan. That game shows why it is always scary to play them

Hell, I think he was half way to College Station by the time the IB rolled around. I don't think he threw the game but the conspiracy theorist in me says he wanted a Loss so the Bama nation would want to railroad him out of T-town anyway.

Sort of nothing. He was gone the next day wasn't he. I don't know if the team knew what was coming or even had a feeling but Fran knew he was gone and it show by how terribly the team was prepared for that game.
