Not true. See Bill Mazeroski (1960, Pirates vs. Yankees), and Joe Carter (1993, Blue Jays vs. Phillies).

I remember watching that. Back when CBS showed the title game on Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't a best of 3. Great moment in CWS history.
