I don't think most people notice that UGA grads have a footprint in every major market to the point where the schools becoming a corporate farm club.

I just overheard a kid say Clemson was his top college choice (majoring in business) over Penn State. I really thought about saying something...

These lists are all about what you value and want to rank.

a lot people also don't realize that the Peabody Awards are UGA sponsored, given to distinguished media persons each year

Clemson does a great job at promoting themselves.. however inaccurate it may be. The point is they have people thinking they are a top 25 university... which is really half the battle.

Don't get me wrong, their architecture/design/engineering and agricultural programs are really strong... especially if you want to work regionally. But the rest of their programs are no better than what you can find at any other university in surrounding states.

That being said, if I wanted to study business and wanted to be in SC then I would enroll at SC.. the Moore school is far more renown regionally and it's undergrad/grad IB programs are internationally renown.

If I had to go out of state but wanted to be close to SC.. I would enroll in business programs at UNC, UGa, or Georgia Tech.

Aren't they a top 20 public school on the USNWR list?

So if it isn't a private school isn't it a public school?

So what you're saying is that USMA students from New York pay less than other students? USAFA students from Colorado? USNA students from Maryland?

They're not public or private schools. They're military academies.

A friend of mine from high school got a $25/h internship with Spotify after her first year in the business school. UGA is plugged in very high up the chain. I know a good bit of LSU students who are going to UGA for their masters as well.

See, the USNews list doesn't do something as stupid as classify a military academy, which only issues out bachelor's degrees, as a major public university.

I agree with you. I don't think anyone will say the military academies aren't some of the best schools in the nation, but to classify them as "public schools" just isn't right

I'll take Forbes and US News opinion over some random message board person any second of every minute, of every hour, of every day, week, month, year, decade, century, and millennium.

I know many will disagree, but I think Forbes is shite with everything they do. The magazine is shite.

No quarrel with me I just have to state that your opinion goes against the majorities. UGA is hands down top 2 schools in the SEC and definitely top 25.

I prefer to use a source with a somewhat solid basis of ranking. CWUR is one of the better ones in terms of using solid formulations.

Here are their Ranking Formulas and 2015 USA Rankings

No stupid cost of attendance or HS guidance counselors influencing the ranking.

It isn't perfect by any stretch...but it is much better than US News and Forbes...despite being lesser known.

ETA: Just noticed that Mizzou and Georgia are right next to each other in these rankings...which is about where I'd put them...about neck and neck.

As I mentioned before,

quote:

Clemson official: School manipulated rankings

Among the steps reportedly alleged by Catherine Watt, who until 2006 headed Clemson's institutional research office: Clemson manipulated class sizes, artificially boosted faculty salary data and gave rival schools low grades in the rankings' peer reputation survey, which counts for 25% of the score.

quote:

Watt said Thursday that reports on her remarks had missed the point of her presentation to a conference and that she regretted any suggestion of illegal activity. Meanwhile, the university denied several of the allegations, but acknowledged it aims to improve in the influential rankings. Clemson jumped from No. 38 among public universities in 2001 to No. 22 in 2008 — an unusually quick ascent considering the rankings typically change little from year to year.
