We all agree that the system is not flawless. But generally speaking it is directionally accurate when looking at classes (not individuals) in aggregate.
Would like to see another how have they done for the class of 20xx article. There was one on the first 45 from one class, interesting stuff.

There are hundreds of 3* players yearly compared to 20-30 5* players. Not really much to be gained from this without the percentages.

There are roughly 25 5-stars each year
There are roughly 300 4-stars each year
There are roughly 1,800 3-stars each year
5-stars make up 1.2% of all 3-5 stars
4-stars make up 14.1% of all 3-5 stars
3-stars make up 84.7% of all 3-5 stars
5-stars make up 13.3% of all Super Bowlers
4-stars make up 23.3% of all Super Bowlers
3-stars make up 63.3% of all Super Bowlers
So, pretty clearly shows which "pan out" more and which you would rather have a roster full of. 5 and 4 stars pan out at a higher % than 3-stars and it isn't even really close.

If accurate well done
I scanned through the 247 list for 2016 and took the totals, so that part is accurate.
I was relying on OP for Super Bowl figures, so I can't attest to that.

Well, Cam was a 5* then he went to Florida over Bama and got the Bama dump to 4*

Cam was a high school 5-star and then a Juco 4-star I believe

I bet this even sounded retarded in your head.

This post should put to bed forever posts like the one made by the OP, which, quite obviously, are always posted by people whose teams finish in the middle of the pack recruiting wise and they are trying to find something - anything - to convince them that "stars don't matter".

Didn't OP's team (Auburn) finish with a top ten/borderline top ten class in the country?
Although that gets you middle of the pack in the SEC

Yes. They had a really strong class, but there are 5 teams on their schedule next year - including 4 in the SEC - who finished better. AU finished 5th in the SEC in recruiting.

That wasn't the point of my post. I merely thought it was interesting. Everything else you read into it yourself.
