I don't think y'all realize how pissed off LSU fans were over the 1996 and 1997 Iron Bowls.
All LSU needed was for Auburn to beat Alabama in 96 for LSU to go to Atlanta. Result: 1 point Bama win. Auburn came back from 17 down to take the lead only to lose it at the end.
All LSU needed was for Bama to beat Auburn in 1997 for LSU to go to Atlanta. Result: The Fumble and a 1 point Auburn win.

That was one of the toughest Iron Bowl losses for me to watch, but I will forever respect the way Scissum ran on that last kick return

I was there with my Dad and I had also invited along my Bama cousin and my Bama Uncle.
