Who was there and what was it like? I was too young to go but it was the first ever taped game I watched on VHS. The Langham pick 6 has to be on the all time sec moments list.

I was there as a 12 year old. Wore shorts and almost froze to death, but when Langham took it to the house the place was nuts. Black sky turned white with people throwing their seat cushions and sugar cubes in the air. I'll never forget it...

I just watched a bit of the game because, surprisingly enough, I don't recall ever having really done so, and the play that broke UF seems have been a tipped pass recovered for an interception on UF's next drive.
Edit: Also, following that video was highlights of the Miami title game (which I have watched in its entirety more than once) and as I'm watching, I have to say something that can never be said enough: that Miami team was a bunch of dirty players about whom the word "thug" would be so generous as to be an invidious lie, and it's a distinct pleasure -- and, indeed, a moral imperative -- to watch them get completely humiliated.

Langham also had a pick six against Auburn the week before. He had a blocked punt return for a TD against Miss State the week before that which helped seal that game. And in 1993 against Arkansas he had one of the best pick sixes I've ever seen. Dude was a baller.
That '92 defense was special and carried the offense most of the season.
I wasn't at the game though, I watched it on ABC.

I was there. My favorite moment occurred shortly after the "pick 6". My young daughter capped off a tremendous play by Antonio. This Florida fan in his 50's had been saying it's over and the fat lady has sung. My 10 year old turns and says " the fat lady has sung" right in his face. Then lets out an incredible "Roll Tide". I'm still laughing 24 years later.

It was the first ever conference championship game. Lots of people thought the SEC was full-on nuts for adding a game that had the potential to knock them out of national title contention.
Then the game happened. It was epic, with a storybook finish, and since it was after the traditional last week of the season the whole nation was watching.
In that moment, the SEC went from crazy to brilliant, virtually every conference started working to add a championship game, and we started down the road to the playoffs.
If Bama had lost, the opinion would have been that stupid game cost the SEC a title shot.

Just to add on a bit, but that play also increased the amount of network money. From what I understand, ABC only got the rights for the initial championship game...but after that game they immediately begin negotiating the rights to broadcast future championship games. If Langham's pick six didn't happen and UF ended up winning the game, the uproar that would've possibly happened, due to the SEC being cost a shot at the title, might've endangered the future of that game...especially considering most of the coaches and players at the time were pretty much critical of it. That play was instrumèntal in making the game a huge success, generated both network income and great publicity for the conference, and other conferences warmed to the idea and looked to get a piece of the network pie...

My then boyfriend and now husband and I were there.
As mentioned, so. flipping. cold.
We were juniors and we went to every home and away game that season. And both championship (SEC and National) games.
The Sugar Bowl was a great time too. Heckling Gino Torretta and the whole team of Miami thugs was great fun.
That whole season and going to all the games is one of my fondest memories.

I watched it at a bar on the strip in Tuscaloosa--I was a Sophomore at Bama.
Went to the title game in NOLA with my dad.

There was no OT back then. Game was tied in 4th quarter before the Langham TD. What would have happened if the game was tied at the end of regulation?

The SEC had actually created "sudden death" rules for just such an occurrence. Roy Kramer, the conference's commissioner at the time, was actually on his way down to the field to review those rules when Langham made his pick six.

Was it not? Kramer's nuts were on the line as well as the life and continuation of a championship game in general. If the championship ended up a flop, games like 2008 and 2009 Florida vs. Bama would've never happened. Hell, Alabama vs. Georgia 2012 is considered one of the greatest SEC games of all time.
You're crazy to think it at least had some importance.

Is this one of the wins Bama had to vacate?

No. Langham didn't sign the cocktail napkin until after the Sugar Bowl.
