I actually think the '11 team was the BEST Bama team of all time. But they didn't have the best SEASON of all time due to 9-6.

No way. One of the best defenses yes. The offense was very average which led to some fairly close games. 1992 team wasn't able to truly dominate teams because of the limited offense.
Despite the one loss last year, I think 2011 Bama was easily better than 1992.

That's like saying the 2000 Ravens is the best Super Bowl team of all-time. The '92 Bama defense might be the best college defense ever but their mediocre QB play and offense prevents them from being the best Bama team ever.

My only gripe with the '11 defense is the lack of competition. Eight of the twelve teams they played against were ranked 95th or lower in total offense. The other teams they faced were a division 1-A team (Georgia Southern) and offenses that were ranked 85th (LSU), 84th (Mississippi State), 29th (Arkansas) in the country. The Arky offense was the only competent offense they played against all season long. They beat up on a lot of garbage offenses similar to the 2008 USC defense. It doesn't take them out of the best ever discussion but it is a strike against them.
