in a series of 10 games, on a neutral field or 5 in Tuscaloosa, 5 in Gainesville; would it be one-sided or would it be about even?

Not a drunk post. More like an Excedrin + highly caffeinated coffee post.

My gut reaction was that Bama would dominate the series and go 7-3 but then I remembered that Saban has a problem against spread teams. Bama goes 5-5 or 6-4.

But Saban’s teams typically dominate offenses that have Pro Style QBs who can’t run.

90's Florida dominated a conference that had yet to adapt to forward passing offenses. They had talent but never the mass accumulation of #1 classes that Bama has had.

Also Saban at Bama has never been completely dominated and outclassed on the field in the way Florida has under Spurrier. Imagine Saban losing a national title game 62-24. Or losing to Mike Dubose at home in 1999 and then losing to him again 34-7 in the 1999 SEC title game again. That was a 1999 Alabama team that lost to LaTech. Or imagine Saban going 5-8-1 against Auburn in the same way that Spurrier did against his biggest in state rival.

The two have no real comparison.

I mean it be a hell of a series. Spurrier would find a way to put points up. Close for sure

I just keep thinking that Mike Dubose lost to La Tech in the same year that he beat Spurrier twice.

Alabama takes about 7, maybe 8, but several close games.

Florida during that stretch had 2 4-loss seasons and 1 3-loss season. Alabama has had 1 3-loss season.

If you're playing them year vs year, then we're looking at an average of 2.3 losses per season for Florida vs 1.3 losses per season for Alabama (despite Alabama playing more games per season than Florida did).

Still would be a great series.

Florida had Florida State each year. Bama hasn't had a FSU like that to play yearly or has closer records to Bama.

Add in. The speed of Florida would give Saban fits. I think it be pretty much split. The Swamp in the 90's was considered the loudest stadium in the country. So winning there vs Spurrier was almost impossible.

Saban had a problem against extremely mobile QB’s. How many of those Florida teams in that time frame had a mobile QB? That problem isn’t near as bad as it used t be. Pruitt is much better at stopping the HUNH teams than Kirby was.

Ole Miss QB's who beat Saban were more passer than runner.

It would be more competitive games than the shite show we have now in the conference but Saban's Bama teams would probably go 7-3 Or 8-2 in those 10 years.

09: Bama played Defending NC 13-1 Florida and NC Runner-up 13-1 Texas
10: Played NC 14-0 Auburn
11: Twice played SEC Champ/NC Runner-up 13-1 LSU
12: Played NC Participant 12-1 Notre Dame
13: Played NC Runner-up 12-2 Auburn
14: Played NC 14-1 Ohio State
15: Played B1G Champ 12-2 Mich St and ACC Champ/NC Runner-up 14-1 Clemson
16: Played PAC-12 Champ 12-2 Washington and ACC Champ/NC 14-1 Clemson

Alabama easily surpassed that annual Florida State threshold.

Alabama played Alabama every year. What’s your point?

Some of those UF teams were really good. Two all time coaches. Would be fun to watch.

Bama wins 7 or 8 out of 10. I can only see the Gators '96, 01, and maybe their '95 teams beating Bama. The other teams simply don't match up to Bama at their best.
