Ouch... though the SEC is slowly, but surely, starting to pour money into sports like gymnastics. One of these days Auburn is going to turn it around.

How many times to gymnastics teams face off each season?

This is a legit question. I'm curious how long that streak has lasted.

Upon googling..

The last time Alabama lost to Auburn in gymnastics...

a gallon of gas cost one cent more than an 85-cent carton of eggs and Jimmy Carter was president of the United States.

The date was March 13, 1979, and the Crimson Tide and Tigers competed in the AIAW Region III Championships at Jacksonville State University. Auburn finished third with a score of 127.75, while Alabama took fifth with a 119.55.

Wow

I don't really care what the sport is, a 36 year winning streak is impressive.

The judges are easily influenced by bammer cash. That's the only logical explanation.

The coach is kind of hot, in a milfy goodness sort of way.

At least twice. Once in the regular season and again at SECs (SEC Championship meet).

Depending on seeding..maybe you see the same opponent at Regionals where top two advance.
Then at NCAAs (National Championship) you have 2 sessions of 6 schools, top 3 advance to the National Championship meet or "The Super 6."

So theoretically, you could face an opponent 5 times in a season. Alabama technically beat Auburn 3 times last year.

Bama and UGA used to have a home and home meet in the same season, but things got heated and personal between both legendary coaches Sarah Patterson and Suzanne Yoculan.

Is it a coincidence the same teams are highly ranked year in and year out?

Cant trust a sport left to a panel to award arbitrary numbers.

Eta: no one cares about gymnastics you Gump

There are only 30, or so, teams, IIRC, so you really have to suck hard to not be in the top 25.

Is this the thread where all the Bama fans who couldn't name a single building on the campus pretend to care about the only Olympic sport where the athletes are 5 years over the hill?

We are apparently pretty good this year. I don't know anything about gymnastics though so I don't know if that's legit or not.

I love all the Aubs in the thread playing it down.

They'll be among the first to the boards when the streak the ends.
