Not sure if it was mentioned already, but it's pretty damn impressive that the conference has 5 National Seeds in the Softball Tournament. There is a possibility of 7 teams to get to the WCWS if things play out at best case scenario.

National Seeds
#1 Florida
#4 Auburn
#5 LSU
#6 Bama
#8 Tennessee

----

Regional Hosts
#10 Mizzou
#14 UGA

---

Unseeded
Texas A&M
MSU
USC
Kentucky

The SEC also grabbed seven national seeds, as SEC regular season champion Florida (50-6) earned the national No. 1 seed and SEC Champion Auburn (49-0) earned the No. 4 seed. LSU (44-11) are the No. 5 national seed, while Alabama (42-12) is the No.6 seed. Tennessee (42-12) is the No. 8 seed, and Missouri (39-14) earned the No. 10 seed. Georgia (40-14) rounds out the list as the No. 14 seed.

How is Auburn 49-0 and not a #1 seed?

ONE of us has to win this thing. I remember when 3 of the final four teams were SEC and Washington won the title. Pac 10 crowing at it's finest.

it's pretty wide open this season. Lots of young and very good good teams with no one really standing out above the others.

I can't figure out what happened to LSU. Beat #1 florida (honestly should have swept) on the road then throttled then #3 OU. after they got the #1 ranking, I guess the pressure started to sink in. 2 freshmen weekend pitchers in the lineup and only 1 senior in the field...I'll be very happy with a WCWS appearance

Going into this I think UF has a great shot at repeating. The SEC Champion and went undefeated playing the toughest OOC schedule in the country. 4-0 against #2 Oregon and #3 Michigan.

The SEC has not dominated a sport the way it has softball. 11 of 13 teams in the tournament, with seven hosts. Obviously, all five of the national seeds have a great chance at winning the whole thing.

Missouri and Georgia are capable of reaching the WCWS. A&M and MSU have played well at times this year and MSU has a winnable regional at Lafayette.

Kentucky went 5-13 in the conference and still made the NCAA Tournament because the SEC is that good. Not expecting folks to follow it like a men's sport, but you have to respect what the ladies of the SEC have done. Complete domination of a sport that has been around the SEC for less than 20 years.

I enjoy it more than baseball. It is a much faster sport. Time between pitches, less innings and a smaller field makes everything faster.

What's really impressive, if the SEC can sustain this level of success over a period of time, is the fact that the SEC really didn't begin focusing on softball until the mid '90s. They've basically moved into this potential position of national dominance in twenty years.

The PAC 8/10/12 has been doing it much much longer.

with the popularity of women`s softball growing and it`s made for TV appeal, fast paced, smaller fields which is great for television purposes and the influx of a lot of really attractive girls playing at the highest levels i see it only the sport only getting bigger..kinda amazing that Clint Myers got a nice salary bump to 180,000 a year to come to AU

WCWS will be the second SEC tourney
It was a very tough conference this year and the NCAA saw that and rewarded it
Half the field will probably be SEC teams

No team at Vandy. They have women's bowling instead of softball.

Bama is hosting in Tuscaloosa, but our road is BRUTAL this year.

I hate to count the chickens before the eggs hatch, but I agree.

There's sure to be some surprises, but UF/LSU/UT/Aub/Bama/Mizzou should all move on to the super regional based on how good they are and/or the draws they got. For instance, the #2 in Mizzou's regional is kU and as long as we stay healthy, we should handle them.

MSU/UGA/UK/A&M/SC have somewhat tougher draws, but all are very capable of moving on to the super regional. SC probably got the toughest draw of the bunch.

As for making the WCWS, I like where Mizzou sits. The team has been a bit of a let down this year compared to where I hoped they'd be, mainly due to the lack of the dominant pitching I had hoped we'd get, but I like our matchups. If we get to the super regional, I like our chances against UCLA if they win. If UCLA doesn't and Missouri then hosts, I like our chances against tejas or whoever comes out of that region.

Pulled up Washington's website since they're in your region and Casey Stangel (former Mizzou Tiger) plays for them and what do I see on their website? An ad for SEC baseball and the SEC Network.

So does Fairleigh Dickinson, Sam Houston State, and UMES. Vandy is 1 of 8 teams.
