I know several schools have QB battles happening this spring. Either list your starting QB OR the 2 or 3 competing for the job, school and prediction and what experts are saying.

Jeremy Johnson for AU. If he hits his ceiling could make a legitimate push for Heisman. Will be interesting to see him in Malzahn's offense and how it changes from running it with someone like Marshall.

PATTY ICE. He's a fricking hoss with a cannon. We're hoping he learns how to actually point it and fire this year.

It's Kyle Allen's job but we're looking forward to the Kyler Murray show as well.

Anthony Jennings is holding on to the starting job by a thread. If Brandon Harris continues to improve during the summer you can expect to see him starting week one for LSU.

Brando Alleno. He's a senior and should be at his most comfy in the position even with a new oc, I'm expecting good things from the offense.

And it's who's meant in friendly way- it's just an easy one, if you can say 'who is' then it's who's.

Coker - likely starter for Alabama

Cornwell - probably the only true contender to beat Coker.

Barnett isn't ready and Morris/Bateman don't appear to be on the same level ability wise.

Coker and Cornwell are similar in that they are both tall pocket passers with strong arms and they both can move fairly well in the pocket and scrambling (neither are going to be moving the ball regularly with their legs, but they are more athletic and mobile than a McCarron or McElroy type). Right now, accuracy and quicker decision making are the areas that need improvement for both of them.

The expectation will be efficient "game managers" who can also stretch the field with strong arms when the defense cheats up. I think this Alabama team will be a bit of a throw back to the 2009 / 2011 type teams where the defense was more experienced than the offense and the offense will be asked not to screw it up for them.

How do LSU fans feel about the QB position as a whole?

I agree. He definitely brings a different skill set. Passing game will improve, but you have to think there will be a drop off in the run game.

Should be interesting to see.

Maybe, but it will be interesting to see if it actually opens the run game up since defenses won't crowd the box anticipating the read option.

I'm watching Auburn's spring game right now, and I have to say I'm not blown away by Johnson's arm. I guess it has to do with all the hype that's being put on him and my expectations might have been a little too high. He always seems to have a little flutter, has made some questionable decisions, and has been inconsistent accuracy-wise. I know it's just the spring game, but I think the Heisman hype is a little pre-mature. Overall he's still an upgrade over Marshall in throwing ability, but I don't see this massive shift in the passing game some Auburn fans are calling for.

Right now, it's pretty tight between Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta. Ramsey has more of the gunslinger, physical tools wanted for the position, but Bauta has displayed more of the leadership and decision making skills necessary for our offense to move.

On the outside looking in is Jacob Park who is perhaps the most talented of all 3 but his relative inexperience and immaturity are holding him back.

Josh Dobbs. As for what people are saying... local practice reports indicate that he's improved his accuracy and consistency. With so many of our WRs limited or out there's a little bit of worry about timing and rhythm - hopefully summer workouts and fall practice clear that up. However by all accounts Dobbs is improving his game.

Now the national media? Since Dobbs took over as QB and our brutal beatdown of poor Iowa in the bowl game, the story line has been "Vols are a trendy pick to challenge for the East." That story line came out of the national press quite literally as soon as our bowl game was finished.

Dobbs' QBR last year was in the top 10 of all QBs and right up there with Winston and Mariota. That's one of the reasons the national media is hyping us despite our youth across the board.

I think he improves the passing game so much it will help the run game. Auburn is going to be really good this year.
