Not counting him out because of A-Day, been thinking for a while he wasn't gonna be a standout, but he'll definitely have a role and do his part.

I think Alabama is set on offense. WR corps looks solid, Coker played fine for the most part, and should be fine at RB with Henry, Drake, and Flowers/Harris. The front 7 on defense is simply nasty and that was without Allen and Reed. The secondary looked good considering it was without it's best player. Yes, Cyrus Jones. Looking forward to 2015.

Yeah honestly this D looks like it may live up to the hype. The only hole we thought we had was at Safety and EJ/Geno are doing well there. We didn't have much returning experience other than Geno, but then we move EJ to Safety and suddenly we've got another guy who has played.
Plus, we saw it at A-Day but the stats from scrimmages also reflected it, Reggie Ragland is getting his hands on thrown balls. He may end up being a little bit better in coverage than we think, though some may have been when he was blitzing. We definitely need a coverage ILBer, but we have a few candidates who are making some noise.
If Coker can be first half Coker more often than not, we're in for a fun season.
Foster/Stewart as a combo is gonna be deadly. Thrown in Kenyan Drake and OJ Howard and it is game on. I also like some of what TFS did. Yes his hands did look bad at times, but he did a good job of finding himself open and he's an athletic guy. Don't know how much he'll play this year, wish we would've redshirted him last year. Thought he'd be the #2 TE, but Dakota Ball has looked good there.

I'll be surprised if they're the starting safeties. First off, could be wrong but I still think Geno will be missing at least a couple of games at the start of the season...second, seems to me they both fit the mold as FS (I think Hootie will probably be the starting SS). There seems to be more competition at FS as well, with Maurice Smith, Harrison, & Washington all in play as well...Harrison might be able to play either safety position but the others seem to be more the FS type...but they'll probably be in nickel/dime more than base so we'll be seein' all/most of 'em in there at some time during the season...
While I'm cautiously optimistic 'bout the defense, think we'll know much more after the first 5 games, particularly against Wiscy, Ole Miss, and UGA...

Agreed. Foster is my "pick" for breakout player this year...he's got a ton of speed and appears to have good hands as well. He was flying when he ran down M. Smith (when Coker threw the pick 6)...

I don't think Mo Smith is really a safety, he's probably more of a Star/CB than anything. I expect he'll play mostly star. Harrison isn't as big as I thought he was, but he looks like he will grow. We need to groom him at SS. Washington is a FS all the way. I liked what I saw out of him at Aday. He's a ballhawk. I think we are gonna be alright on the back end.
Can anybody in the secondary claim they played better than Marlon Humphrey at Aday?

After rewatching Aday and going back and looking at the last three games last season...Eddie concerns me.
He was beaten regularly against Auburn, Mizzou and Ohio State as a corner. Then Saturday he gave up some big plays as well. How is he in the speed department? To me it looks like he lacks the kind of top end speed to keep up with elite burners. Add in that he is probably going to need to put on 5-10lbs if Safety is a permanent move and I'm a tad concerned.

I hate seeing players who played well at one point - whether it be actually in game or well enough in practice to be placed in a contributory position on the depth chart - end up not performing at that level for an extended period of time but not get surpassed by another player whose performance and ability is trending upward or perhaps at its height.

More like 15-20lbs, better speed, and a pair of fricking balls. Pretty sure they got chopped off when he blew out his ACL.

i think we are in better shape that we were this time last year, i think the defense is going to be truly nasty at all 3 levels. I think the offense is right where i expected they would be after losing so many players, oline will be better which will make the RBs look good against anybody's DL except ours. Im totally comfortable at WR, and ball and tfs are pleasant surprises at te/hb. hard to say about oj, had big scrimmages but didnt get targeted at aday. Depth at RB is really my biggest concern. Harris really needs to pan out immediately, or we are in trouble if anybody gets injured (and when was the last time we were without injury in the RBs). overall im pleased and optimistic.
i think its really silly how much hype auburn is getting on O yet again based on their spring game. their spring game is designed to do that i guess, but you wold think that they would learn after a couple of years. What does putting your 1s against very bad second string players prove?

This team reminds me of the 2009 team. The defense overall may be better and they will be the reason we when the games. The offense may have a few more skilled players than 09 but my one concern is going to be depth on the OL. We do not seem very deep and an injury or two could be devastating on the OL.

im not as worried with the OL. Right now we've got Brandon Greene as probably the top backup. He can play either tackle or guard. He may end up pushing Jackson for the starting RT spot. He knows the system very well. We've got JC Hassenauer who has come on as a RS Fr. He could play either guard spot or center. Pierschbacher can slide over to tackle if we needed him. Shank Taylor has played a good bit of guard and he might push for a starting spot. Issac Luatua has been in the system for a long time and knows the playbook well enough to step in at either guard spot. Josh Casher has drawn rave reviews as a pass blocker from either the guard or center spot. We've got a slew of exciting true freshman projects coming in. Lester Cotton looks great and he could play RT or either guard spot. Richie Pettibon is another excellent guard prospect. Brandon Kennedy is already on campus; he's a smart guy and should know the playbook by the time the season rolls around. Maybe we are a little short on Tackles, but Korren Kirven is probably over there permanently now. He's mostly just a big body, but may be serviceable after switching over from the DL this spring.
im more worried about RB depth and i'm lobbying the boards for anybody to move over and take some carries.
