I'm not clicking that Hillary for Prez link. I'll start getting those annoying phone calls.

fricking awesome. That poor guy is probably confined to a sedentary wheelchair for the rest of his life but hopefully they'll figure out how to make it adjust to oxygen demand and it can be used to get people active again.

Engineer over here who knows an embarrassingly small amount about how the human body works, but why couldn't they just increase the flow rate permanently - thus moving more oxygen all the time. How would that affect the body? If you have a heart, then you would be concerned about the strain on the heart with a higher heart rate all the time.. that obviously does not matter in this case. What are the side effects of moving blood through the body faster?

It would probably tigger your body to produce more adrenaline than needed

The problem with that is that you can get too much oxygen. Oxygen poisoning results from the free radicals generated by too much oxygenation to tissues.

Still really cool though. Medicine amazes me every day.

This a bridge to transplant not. Permanent solution, hopefully.
The body likes a pulsars tile flow and functions best with that.

The God damned zombie apocalypse has started. If anyone needs me, I'll be bugging out on the way to my cabin.
