Would 3-division setup work in the SEC?

Add a 15th team. Have 3 divisions of 5 teams. Division champs with highest CFP rankings play for the title. It would allow for the stupid "traditional rivalries" to stay intact because of fewer divisional games.
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina
Kentucky
New team (VT? NC State?)
Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
Mississippi State
LSU
Arkansas
A&M
Ole Miss
Missouri
Or you could add a team in the western side and shift others around. Just an idea. Sorry if this has been discussed before.

I have been posting this for years now, since the last round of expansion.
you play 4 games in your division
rotate 2/3 3/2 in the others and swithc every two years
two best records over 3 divisions play for title.
the only downside is you will play 9 games requiring 5 away games every other year.

It won't fit the current rules. The NCAA rules would have to change to accommodate.

Couldn't you just keep it at 8 games? Play one permanent and one rotating from the other divisions.

The SEC may eventually go to a POD system with NO divisions. Everyone will play 2-4 opponents every year and the others would rotate.
Auburn would have UGA, Bama and then rotate the other 11.
Bama would have UT, Auburn
UGA would have Auburn, Florida
Some want a 4 pod system
UGA would have Auburn, Florida, UT and who cares
Auburn would have UGA, Bama, Ole Miss and who cares
LSU would have Bama, TAMU, Ole Miss and who cares.

Doesn't preserve UGA-AU, unless I'm misunderstanding it

Sure it does. Each team can keep a permanent from each of the other divisions.
Auburn could keep Georgia.
Bama could keep LSU.
OM keeps MSU. Etc.

I think the Power 5 Conferences should go to 2 Divisions each. Do not have a Conference Championship Game and let the 10 Division Champions play in the College Football Playoff. The Top 6 Div Champions get byes and the other 4 play into the top eight. Rank the Division Champions by either committee or polls. It would mean one additional game per year (15) for the Champion or runner-up.

This looks like a giant piece of shite...but you may be on to something.

I've said it 1,000,000 times. Move Bama and Auburn to the East, Vandy and Missou to the west and do away with the cross division rival. That keeps all of the traditional rivalries intact and allows you to rotate 2 teams in other division every year. That way schools would play every other school home and away at least every 4 years.

So Florida, Bama, Auburn, Tennessee, and Georgia in the same division?

Sure, having AU/UA/UT in one division would be a great idea. I am sure the rest of the league would love that.

You'd get to know what the West has been dealing with lately.

Well since it is schools like Tenn and Auburn insisting on playing Bama every year why not?
Last year end of year AP rankings in new system
East: #4, #9, #22
West: #11, #14, #17
This is of course is ignoring the recruiting rankings Tenn tears up every year.

somethinf needs to be done about scheduling. Sec has possibly the dumbest set up:
6-1-1 format which means you play at or host a non-permanent cross divisional rival about once a decade. 8 game schedule, yet you're required to play a power five OOC team, rather than just move to a 9 game schedule.
Go to a 6-3 format and be done with it. How are the ADs and University Presidents this stupid. It's not that hard to figure out.
