Dana Duckworth had, what seemed to be, the misfortune of following a living legend at Alabama Gymnastics. Most were expecting a rebuilding year to begin the post-Patterson era. Instead, Dana has the Tide as Back 2 Back SEC Champions (one of the odd things Sarah was never able to do) and after being a top7-5ish team all year, finished the NCAA Regionals with the second highest score in the Nation.

12 Teams have made it to Dallas for the Finals and after tonight, only 6 will remain to play for all the marbles on Saturday.

The semis should stream on WatchESPN. Look for a large Bama contingent as the Fort Worth Alumni Chapter of UA has done their part to welcome Alabama to what will be a heavy Oklahoma arena (the State of Texas has no gymnastics team at the finals).

@tommydeas: Clark scores 9.75. Alabama jumps over Auburn with a 197.1. But still will have to wait to see if it advances to Super Six final

Yeah, you're assuming right. It looks like LSU won't catch up with us, so we are in over them and Auburn. Nebraska would need higher than 9.9 from each of their gymnasts in order to edge us out. We should get second or third place. OU is going to finish first unless they royally screw up.

OU has had two falls off the beam in their final rotation.

Is there a twitter that you are following for the other scores? I can't seem to find a good one, and al.com is blowing chunks at updating their feed.

I do care but "shock the world" is a little over the top for a team that competes for gymnastics titles every year dont you think?

Maybe.

But nobody expected us to get back there so soon with a new coach. It would be the equivalent of Saban's successor taking us to the playoffs in his first year. Plus we haven't exactly been dominant this year. We had two home losses, and we hadn't lost at home since 2009. We lost on the road to Arkansas because we choked on the beams. Again, this group didn't look like a championship caliber group throughout the year.

I am excited that we've gotten this far.

Did anyone bookmark the thread where LSU fans were crowing about beating us in gymnastics? Where did all of the LSU gymnastics fans go?

They've been ranked no higher than 5 this season, had their first home loss since 2009 and multiple home loses in 15+ years, including being dominated by #1 OU in Coleman this year. Yes Bama has won 6 titles, but this year would be a very shocking win.
