Anyone that was a kid in the late 70's early 80's grew up with the original Star Wars and can't help but be a fan. That was really a golden age of movies with SW, Indiana Jones, the Spielburg movies, Alien, etc. Plus, you had to go see them in the theatre as many times as possible because your only chance of ever seeing them again was if they made the CBS movie of the week 8 years later.

I understand the younger generation not getting it as they missed out on all of this...they were raised on Harry Potter, Transformers and that gay vampire saga...

That's why when Gen Y'ers and Millenials constantly show their lack of culture and class I don't really hold it against them...

I'm so confused. I thought Billy Dee Williams was the only black dude in space.

That's so racist. There were sections of space which were 100% black.

But even the Empire didn't go there at night....

Me thinks you're afraid of pink shirts, too.

How many times do you need to chime in with your disinterest/nerd shtick to try and bolster the perception of your manhood? We got it.

Go pick up a gun and some camo today. You'll feel better about yourself, I'm sure.

No way...

Look at the top box office draws from the 70's and 80's...

70's

Star Wars (1977)
Jaws (1975)
The Exorcist (1973)
Grease (1978)
The Sting (1973)
Saturday Night Fever (1977)
(National Lampoon's) Animal House (1978)
The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975)
The Godfather (1972)
Superman (1978)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977/80)
Smokey and the Bandit (1977)
Blazing Saddles (1974)
Rocky (1976)

80's

E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)
Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983)
Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Batman (1989)
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Ghostbusters (1984)
Beverly Hills Cop (1984)
Back to the Future (1985)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)
Tootsie (1982)

Now look at the 90's and 2000's..

Titanic (1997)
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
Jurassic Park (1993)
Forrest Gump (1994) (tie)
The Lion King (1994) (tie)
Independence Day (1996)
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Home Alone (1990)
Men in Black (1997)
Toy Story 2 (1999)
Twister (1996)

Avatar (2009)
The Dark Knight (2008)
Shrek 2 (2004)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006)
Spider-Man (2002)
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
Spider-Man 2 (2004)
The Passion of the Christ (2004)

You can make the argument that Top 10 box office isn't what you're referring too but look at the ICONIC movies in those first two. There are some great movies later but c'mon...hell, after looking at this we peaked in the 70's.

I agree with you except...

Transformers

...was also during the early 80's. I was a huge fan of those, too (the newer movies are okay, but nothing spectacular....I couldn't even finish all of the last one).

The Transformers movies were terrible. I blame the robot design. Too pointy and too much shite going on to be able to focus on anything.

I can agree with that.

Now the animated 1986 movie with the cheesy rock power ballad music........I had that movie poster on my wall as a kid.

Penny is a cheap whore. She also likes it when I squirt sour milk up her count with a turkey baster and let the cat lick it out. But, does that make it right?

Well, you can GTFO of this thread then and stop wasting your time writing about something you have no interest in and wasting our time by having to read irrelevant posts.
