What was Spurrier doing while Nick Chubb wanted to go to USC?

Seems it wouldn't have taken much to stop playing golf and go recruit one the nations best future running backs. What a major league whiff.

A damn shame he doesn't (and never did) have Saban's work ethic.

Chubb never "wanted to go" to USC, he was interested in the program and wanted to give them a chance before he decided. If Spurrier had been there then they might have stood a chance, but UGA basically led wire to wire. USC didn't lose Chubb because Spurrier wasn't there, but they did lose a chance to gain ground.

The same coach that won as many East titles as Spurrier has at USCe.

I've been saying this too much lately but it's appropriate here - print the shirts?

I think Mark Richt may have lost control of Spurrier.

AJC did an interview with him asking him about his recruitment after he'd already signed with UGA (I believe he might've just gotten on campus to start his freshmen year). Anyway, according to Chubb, Spurrier never showed up when he was there. Both times he was on campus something came up and that changed his mind. He also said Butch Jones was the hardest to turn down because he had such a good relationship with him and liked him so much.

He was a lazy recruiter at UF (and it usually showed against Bowden back then).
