Comments from J3's father -- significant for the KA haters

“He never did fit in with the other players that came there. He didn’t fit in with them,” Johnny Williams said last week. “He fit in real good with Coach Anderson, but he and the players never did really get along. ... They don’t stay together. There was no chemistry on the team. Not only myself, the audience saw that, too — the crowd whenever they came to the games. So it was just difficult.”
Sometimes you can tell a person is just being polite, not trying to burn a bridge ect.
This isn't one of those times.
He's not throwing KA a bone, he's telling the truth.
It was more of an issue with the kids, the environment, culture, foundation of a program that Haith left him with... the issue wasn't with Anderson being a tyrant, as many of you have branded him as. Perhaps, it's the kids, and the culture of the program. Not KA.

It's a coach's job to create chemistry, environment and culture, it doesn't just happen. KA has had a year to make progress. It's clearly not there.
Further, you're making the jump that it is Haith's fault but not Anderson's, which I find interesting, but Haith is gone and Anderson has been here awhile. And if J3 liked KA so much, where's the loyalty, knowing that KA will be recruiting his kind of players, creating his kind of culture?
I don't know that KA is a tyrant, but I also don't know that he has the ability to successfully build and run a major-college D1 program, either.
There are political reasons why J3's dad would say these things, not the least of which is that KA is the one who give J3 a release from his scholarship, which KA doesn't have to do. Maybe it's just my cynical mind, but maybe there's a little quid pro quo going on here.

I have never walked into a job interview and said "my current boss sucks."

Fair.
Show me the recruiting results this cycle that corroborates this thinking.

I read something like this last week and got me to thinking: IF everyone else on the team gets along, how much better can we be without JWIII?

Perhaps it's all of them, kids and KA. I see no way that KA is not at fault though, it's his team, there's only one hold over from Haith now, continuing to try and blame Haith is foolish and just not true. J3's father also has an interest in not burning any bridges before J3 has his release, so blaming the other players is the PC way around it.

I don't think it's saying everyone else on the team get's along.
It's saying that the team is a scattered mess. No cohesiveness or camaraderie.
The Cardinals are careful who they bring aboard the ship, they know it has to fit.
Same with so many schools that can't put a lineup of 5 stars on the court, like Kentucky, and even with that we see what can happen when branding isn't the main ingredient.
The team is a hodgepodge of randomness. It doesn't make any sense. J3 saw this, fans with intuition saw this.

I find it interesting that we have never heard one word from J3 himself, just Daddy. Players leaving usually at least put out a statement thanking the University, the coach, ect. While I hate losing any players due to the depth issues we have, probably best for him to go. Not sure he can get many minutes with any big time programs; not physically strong, not a great outside shooter and for some reason could not make two free throws in a row to save his life.

What I read last week pretty much said that everyone else gets along & JWIII was the outcast. I tried finding the link but it went into some details about who hung out with who and JWIII didn't hang out with anyone.

They don't.

Haith will be blamed until we have a record above .500. It is what it is. And I didn't used to think there was a racial component to this coaching thing at Mizzou. But it seems hard to avoid given the postings of our fans (on other boards).
As for Haith holdovers: I count two. Clark and Rosburg.

Just look at social media and such...All the other players are posting pictures together etc.
J3 is known to be a VERY religious guy. Like Tim Tebow type.
I know that when I was in school, I didn't hang around those type of guys. I got drunk, chased girls, typical "college stuff".
I'm still young enough to know a few undergrads, and they say the entire team shows up to Harpos quite a bit (even Bernard), but no sign of J3.
I think this is pretty much what his father said...he likes KA and his style, but he didn't get along with his teammates. Hard to stay in a place for 4 years if you are around people who don't like you.

I'm not a KA hater, maybe a KA skeptic, but statement like that could just as easily be turned right around on KA. Instead of getting rid of the cancers on the team, KA has chosen to keep the cancers and let the kids he gets along with and who are buying in walk. I thought the entire KA mantra was changing the culture. If these statements are true, it makes me feel like last year was a waste.
For example, I'd rather KA kick a cancerous Isabell from the team and keep a good J3. And I'm only using Isabell as an example. But I thought that was this last year was supposed to be all about.

So we keep all the kids who douched it up and let the good one's walk simply for the fact that all the douchy kids get along? Seems to cut against everything we hear about KA and sacrificing last year in order to change the culture from the ground up. So now our "foundation" that we hear so much about is based on a bunch of kids who are cliquish and have all had "incidents" leading to suspensions instead of excising them in favor of the kids who buy in.

Maybe they should have been wherever it was that J3 was instead of out causing trouble and getting suspended. It's going to sound perverse given how frustrated I was with the way last season went, but I would have almost had more respect for KA if he had kicked all the problem kids off the team and kept kids like J3, especially after hearing all of this "culture change", "program building" and "foundation up" rhetoric for the last year.

Why would KA keep kids the he thought were cancerous?

I'm a KA skeptic, but I think everyone is trying to equate every situation or action to KA. There were a large number of suspensions this year. That is a fact. But was it for things that makes kids "bad or problems." I'm not so sure.
Every interview I've ever seen from the players has made them seem like relatively educated folks. They haven't been arrested.
Like I said, I don't think KA has done a very good job, but I am all for giving him multiple years to get a fair shake. Same for the players, until they are arrested or proven "problems," I'd like to think its simply a lifestyle difference between J3 and the rest of the team.

Maybe he doesn't think they are cancerous.
Could be that they did the normal stuff college freshmen do, possibly learned their lesson and matured.
