The Lanett native attended Auburn from 1956 to 1960, and was a quarterback on the football team. Though he wasn’t the starter that year, he was a member of the 1957 Tigers national championship team, said his daughter, Rhonda Barker of Buford, Ga.
He was drafted by the Colts in the 12th round of the 1959 NFL Draft, being selected 144th overall. He played for five different AFL teams during his football career, the only player to do so. When the Miami Dolphins began their inaugural season in 1966, he started at quarterback in the team’s first game, against the Oakland Raiders. During his career he completed 522 passes for 51 touchdowns, and he was the first quarterback to throw for a touchdown at Shea Stadium.
Wood’s career as an assistant coach included positions with Ole Miss, Auburn and the University of Georgia. He also coached with the Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and New York Jets.
He retired from coaching in 1997.

Geez I bet. It's sad enough to see a family member/friend with it, but a facility full of patients? I hope I never have to go to a place like that.
