Does it bother anyone else? I cannot stand the mispronunciation of "ask"

actually if you trace the origins of the word "ask" it was originally pronounced "ax"

True. My MIL is from Minnesota and she attempts to ridicule southerners for saying aunt the correct way. "Why would you call your aunt a bug?" Then I tell her that I have only heard it pronounced her way by Minnesotans and black folks. Then she shuts up pretty quick because she is a stupid arse ignorant yankee racist.

even the original spelling of "acsian" is disputed depending upon which language it was translated into.

But if the world has accepted that "ask" is the correct form since the 8th century, I am fairly certain that is the way it should be said.

I had to call down to Louisiana and talk to someone who worked for the State on Friday and they said "Axe" Hadn't heard that in years.

Only time I've heard a Caucasian say "axe" was when I moved to Louisiana..cajun thang
