I believe this is year 4 and they are absolutely dreadful.

I have attempted to watch them this year a little bit while waiting for Opening Day in the MLB and it is an absolute shitshow. Never seen so much bunting in my life. Unwatchable brand of baseball imo. It also seems as though he recruits too well (loses tons of guys to the draft every year) and doesn't have a backup plan in terms of guys he can actually get on campus.

I know he was successful at UC Irvine and Fullerton, but he has been worse than Todd Raleigh (his successor) in terms of winning % through four years.

For those who follow SEC baseball much closer than I do, is it time to cut him loose? Will what he's trying to do ever work?

No. You have to keep him for 20 years like we've kept TJ for 20 years.

UT doesn't give a shite about college baseball, hell many don't even know the team exist, therefore I'm gonna go with a big fat "no."

If people want to watch baseball beyond HS, they tend to go catch a Smokies game which is much more fun and has better seating, drinks, concessions and is considered a top 5 minor league stadium. It also has easy access - not far from Knoxville at all.

IOW, why bother with UT? They waited far too long to try to establish a CBB program and brand and they're paying the price.
.
The Smokies, OTOH, have been around for ages and have put a lot of work into their team as well as the fan and stadium experience. Whereas UT has done no such thing.

Yup. He'll get 5 years. What's the alternative? As long as Corbin is at Vandy, UT's recruiting will lag far behind in-state. The program is basically playing catchup on a treadmill.

How fitting is it that the worst Tennessee poster on here dedicated his user name to arguably the worst coach on Tennessee's campus?

Fullerton was declining while he was there, and UT bailed him out before the nation caught on....kind of like Frank Martin using up the Kansas State talent, then heading to Carolina before shite hit the fan

I'm sure he'll be fired next season

Don't think they can fire him yet. He was a big name when they brought him iN. Good luck bringing in another top name after firing him. I think another year or two.

While watching some of our series last weekend, I couldn't believe he was in his fourth year at Tennessee. Pretty bad baseball. I was even more shocked that we didn't sweep.

I realize DS walked into a shitshow after Raleigh but man overall record is not stacking up much better.

Thru 4 Seasons
Raleigh - Overall 108-113 (SEC 42-78)
Serrano - Overall 86-92 (SEC 29-62)

Yes, UT will change coaches in every sport every 4 years or less in perpetuity.

Give him as much time as he needs. Baseball is a distant fourth in Vols fans' eyes behind both basketball teams and football. He's a good coach that has accomplished a lot in his past so if you fire him because of impatience, who the hell would want to replace him?

Hell, it's further back then that. It's behind softball and when the soccer team does well it's behind them too. Odd because this area loves baseball in general but UT baseball has done a terrible job advertising itself and building a fanbase.

No idea. I was simply asking a question. It's no sweat off my back if he is here another 10 years to be honest. I was just wondering what people who follow the sport much closer than I do thought.

TBH, Vanderbilt fans know more about our baseball team than most Vol fans as do the other SEC baseball schools.

Like I said earlier, UT never bothered to establish a fanbase with college baseball and now that the Smokies have been here for ages and established a great fan experience, baseball fans will simply go there.

UT baseball gets mentioned more here on tRant than it does on UT websites or even our local news.
