Who here likes him and why? I don't like anything I have seen from him thus far and actually I think he is embarrassing Alabama in this Basketball coaching search. I mean get it done or retract the offer already and go get us a decent coach. This kinda pisses me off to be honest.

Marshall hasn't said no. For all we know, Wichita knows we lead and they're on the clock.

I don't like him. I think the only reason he took the job was as a favor to a dying man (Mal). I mean he didn't really even want to do a coaching search, he was just going to keep Grant. I don't think that he has handled this search very well. I believe Mal would have done a better job selling the program to Marshall and he would have had him on campus already.

I agree. I see Battle as an Interim A.D. at best. I wish he would step down and let Alabama find a real A.D.

Yeah, completely agree that there's no reason to pass judgement until the next coach is hired.

That said, this is certainly his defining moment.

Mal hired Grant. Mal hired Price. Mal hired Shula. Mal hired Saban, sure, but lets not act like he was great at hiring coaches. Selling Alabama basketball to Marshall isn't the same as selling Alabama football to Saban.

I'm not a fan. It goes back to last season for me. There was zero reason to keep Grant again this year. He spams the shite out of me with his stupid blogs telling me how I should act at football games and why Grant is doing a great job.

Unless I've missed something, we still don't have a women's soccer coach either.

I'm waiting for this coaching search to be done and then I will pass judgment. Sure, I wish that he would have fired Grant last year, but even the great ADs make mistakes. Nobody remembers Mal Moore as the guy who hired Shula. Similarly, nobody will remember that we had to wait forever if we land Marshall. If we end up with Pitino then Battle needs to be canned ASAP.

Mal Moore hired Franchione, Price, and Shula before he finally hit a home run with hiring Saban. He also hired Grant. When Rich Rodriguez said "no" to us on December 6, 2006, he was the most unpopular athletic director to ever hold the office at Alabama, worse even than Bob Bockrath.

Yeah, Pitino may end up being successful but I would seriously rather have kept Grant than chased Marshall so publicly to end up with Pitino.

I remember that time too. If Marshall says no, Battle better hope something similar to Rich Rod/Saban goes down. Maybe fish from the NBA or go after someone who isn't "available"

He kept grant last year. I didn't like that. Other than that, I don't have much to judge him by.

wtf? He's done everything he can possibly do to lure a coach that we honestly have no business hiring. This could potentially be a Saban type hire and you want him to throw it away for baby patino?

He better salvage this fiasco of a basketball search with a good hire.
