I hate him so much. I really do.

Why did he go up?
...because he knows we'll put a sick-arse team on the court next season.

JJ is just a reactionary. The second there is hope that we will have a good team in something, we need to instantly raise ticket prices apparently. He never thinks long term with this crap. If he can make a little extra now, go for it.

Down voted your post by mistake. But I thought I was only one who feels this way
My dislike of JJ is really unexplainable. There's just something about him I can't stand

I know why I hate him. He is a terrible businessman. He makes way too many emotional decisions. He is a prick. His contract negotiations are atrocious.
Just to name a few

Are we really sold out of bball TUF seats?

He's just not a likable person, sometimes you just can't explain why.
Regardless, with the size of the arena, if AU continues to improve and closes the season out strong next year, another ticket price increase will happen. It's the nature of supply and demand. Personally, I would think he was an idiot if he didn't increase ticket prices.

Well, he did seek assistance when hiring Malzahn, and that's worked out well. Also, the buyout on Pearl is pretty substantial and will keep most teams off him. Those are always hit or miss though, but with the high turnover in coaching you have to do something to protect what you perceive is the right hire. Plus, I doubt he's the only say in ticket prices, he just takes all the blame.
All in all, JJ has gotten better over the years. He still has a face that I'd like to punch though.

He did much better with Pearl's contract.
He royally fricked us with Chizik and co.
I don't have a problem with raising ticket prices when it is justified. With football, we are already one of the highest ticket prices, yet are barely filling up our stadium. Why raise again?
Basketball, we are still trying to build the program. Let's have a winning season first, and get Auburn fans back into going to bball games. Raise prices in a year or two once we have some semblance of a pattern to go off of.
Again, just not sound long term decisions imo.

People actively seek out things to criticize him about and I don't understand why.
There are legit things to criticize him about but this isn't one of them.

Ideally you would raise prices right before a spike in attendance not right after.
I don't know how much tickets were before but I doubt they raised them enough to where it significantly affects attendance.
(I also think the statement about us having the highest football ticket prices is inaccurate but I'm unsure.)
ETA: We're ranked #21 in highest average ticket price according to Forbes. That seems about where we should be IMO.

It's just good business. Our bball "'cruiting fund" needs to increase so we can get the kind of players we need. Very shrewd move by JJ, IMO.

Jay Jacobs is living proof that if people think you suck, there is literally nothing you can do to change that sentiment.
Dudes made some solid decisions over the last four years or so. Yet people hate him.

Ideally, sure. However, you don't raise prices when attendance is already struggling to stay full capacity (football).
With the basketball program, it's been way too long since we've had a winning season. It is foolish to raise them at the first sign of life when you're still trying to rebuild the program.
