4. LSU - Jones should finish higher but pisses away more talent than anyone.

some of you post like LSU was the '96 Bulls this past season. One first rounder in Martin, Mickey is unlikely to be drafted, and then 3 quality, not elite guards. Two freshmen post players had nagging injuries, so they were out. Malone?

Let's say Newman signs with LSU and Portis goes pro...

1-4: LSU, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Florida, no order. All are really good with weaknesses. If Epps and Robinson develop for lSU, I wouldn't be shocked if LSU won the conference or at least wins the SECT. Craig Victor is going to surprise a lot of casual basketball fans

5. A&M-Even if Kennedy is "meh", there's way too much talent on that roster to not go dancing.

6. Vanderbilt
7. South Carolina- "shite or get off the pot" time for Frank Martin. Good nucleus returning with a good class, no more excuses.
8. Ole Miss-Saiz and Moody are back with a solid class, but losing a good bit of players
9. UGA-Just put them here because Fox knows what he's doing
10. Auburn-Almost put Auburn at 9. I like Pearl, and he has a nice class coming in
11-14 are probably interchangeable

Well in that case this thread is very premature. Gotta know who's leaving and who's coming in first. For example, Newman comes to Kentucky if there's PT at G. If there isn't, probably LSU. How will Howland and Barnes rework their new rosters. Who's going to coach Bama? What is Pearl looking at. Can Billy D get his roster to quit playing selfish ball and close out games. Will Kevin Stallings admit he's getting royalties from his work on NBC's "The Office"?

Absolutely agree but all of us are out of the tourney except the Cats and it's the offseason so we have nothing better to do. I also think the new hires and raised coaching talent have folks excited and wondering what might come of it all which is a legit topic to speculate on, imo.

As for the most pressing question (Stallings), I'm guessing no and he's probably not getting them anyway although I could see a one time check. Hollywood doesn't give away money and they don't have major issues with dirty tricks (not paying people, stealing ideas and scripts with only minor tweaks and several other things are old hat to them).

Oh, I'm all for talking SEC basketball in the middle of the Sugar Bowl. True Kentuckian.

My thoughts on next year based on right now:

1-4, take your pick:

UK - We'll reload of course. I drink the blue kool aid. Just get used to it folks, don't fight it.
Florida - Billy lost so many close games. The talent and coaching is there. They'll be a force this season.
Arkansas - Assuming Portis and Qualls return, Hogs should be respectable again.
LSU - Some head scratchers this season, but another year under Jones plus a very nice class that could get nicer should make things interesting in Red Stick.

5-9 Whatever order
Vandy - Siakam is the only significant contributor they lose I believe. Hard nosed ball club.
Texas A&M - Kennedy has the bulk of the Ags roster returning. They should make the dance.
Georgia - Fox is a great coach but Thornton and Djurisic going will hurt. I may be overly optimistic here, but I say Georgia finishes in the middle of the pack.
Alabama - I'm going to say they get Marshall. He's got enough talent in TTown to have Bama in the thick of things.

10-14
Auburn - Their rebuild is a year ahead of the others.
Tennessee - Barnes js not in as bad of shape as Howland. Vols and Georgia could easily switch spots in my mind in this thing.
State - Howland has to do some house cleaning. Give him a season or two.
Carolina - Someone else posted its put up or shut up time. I'd like to be wrong but I don't see a wild turnaround on the horizon for USC.
Mizzou - Anderson stays here until I see something worth putting any confidence in.

Isn't DFS a junior? So's Frazier right? FWIW I'd be much happier if they repeated this season. But that won't happen.

Don't here many people talking about power forward Craig Victor, the La PoY in 2014 who went to Arizona and was 9th on that very good team in minutes played when he decided to cut ties in December.

There was a reason he was 9th in minutes played.

LSU people are vastly overrating the impact Victor will have.

Ahh. I hadn't seen that. Been focused on all things Kentucky of late for obvious reasons.

If we get Malik, we're could be a tourney team. People don't realize how much our current players are going to be improved under Howland.

Do you even understand who he was playing behind? Zona has 2 1st round bigs this year and 2 more bigs who were 3rd year starters. He was never going to get much P.T. this year at zona.

You have no prayer of making the tournament even with Malik because the rest of the team outside of Sword is just that bad. Howland isnt coach that crap up unless you make some miracle SECT run as a 10 seed or so.

You missed. You didn't interpret the entire post. If our current players hadn't have given up on themselves at the end of the season, we could have won 3 or 4 more games this past season. Under Ray.

UF will be a much different team next year. You have to remember that while dealing with a ton of injuries and suspensions against an incredibly tough schedule, UF lost a huge number of very close games. If only a handful of those went the other direction this flawed team would have been in the tourney.

If the team plays to expectations next season they will undoubtedly be a tourney team.

Fully.

I have watched Victor play a lot, being down here in New Orleans.

He will be a good role player on LSU's team next season. He won't be some stud. That's not necessarily a bad thing, because LSU won't need him to be great.

I'm just pointing out that he won't be that great, at least next season.
