Weekday weddings put a curse on a marriage. I'm not joking either, the divorce rate for weekday weddings is even higher than for weekend nuptials. Ask a priest or minister if you don't believe me, they'll say the same thing.

We save $4100 if we choose the Thursday over the Saturday.

We also saved by having ours on a Friday.

If so, was the attendance way below expected because it is during the week?

The attendence was 0.

Her argument is that the people we care about will be there no matter what day its on

If she is good to you and she is the one, do whatever the frick she tells you. This could also lead into an extended honeymoon, which is the part you should be concerned with.
The only planning a man should do is to make sure there is no way she is riding the cotton pony come homeymoon time.

Who gives a rat's a$s? It's a wedding. Just elope or do a beach wedding and forget all of the crazy expense. Take the money and run. Nobody but your parents want to be there anyway.

Is it a destination wedding? I'm like your fiancee - I'd pocket the $4100 (outrageous savings btw) and put it towards the honeymoon, esp if vets day is the day after.

There's a reason why Weekday weddings are cheaper, and it's because no one does them, and it's an incredible dick move to your guests. Seriously, you going to ask your guests to miss 2 days of work, and if you have a rehearsal and a dinner the previous evening, you're asking some people in your party and some of your loved ones to take off 3 fricking days of work. It is beyond selfish. No one should have a wedding where it's not feasible to only have to miss one day of work, nevertheless two. The only wedding I'd show up to on a Thursday is my own sister's, and that's it.

Do not do a Thursday wedding. I understand this day is about y'all and your covenant with God and each other, but it's super disrespectful to your guests to have a wedding on a weekday. I'll go into detail on any specific part you want me to, but it's definitely not ok unless you're only inviting like 10 people.

A buddy of mine is getting married out of state on a Wednesday. I'm taking PTO and linking it with my annual summer vacation in order to go to it.

I'm looking forward to it, but it also wound up being moderately convenient because of how close it was to my vacation, anyway. I wouldn't normally make this kind of trip for a wedding in the middle of the week.

Not a destination wedding. Literally everyone that will be invited lives within 20 miles of the venue.
