Edit - 2nd degree mary jane is a misdemeanor, but it probably indicates that he's been popped for that before.
No. POM 2nd degree is possession for 'personal use' and is the lesser of Alabama's POM charges.
If you're caught* a second time or caught possessing for more than personal use, it is 1st degree POM, which is a felony.
*I say caught, but for complete accuracy it is if you've been previously convicted of POM. Beating the charge or pleading down obviously wouldn't count as a first offense.

Kind of negates the "Tuscaloosa PD is covering crap up" argument I've seen WAY too may AU fans whip out.

Not saying it's right, but possession of alcohol isn't illegal, just driving when you've had too much. Pot, on the other hand, is illegal in any circumstance, in Alabama.
I see where you are coming from, but possession of marijuana seems much less serious than a second DUI. Granted, both are illegal, but unless he was driving while under the influence of Marijuana I think the DUI for Smith is a worse offense.

Let's be honest here...........dude was a fourth stringer. The pot may have been in Coker's front pocket. We don't know.

Look, I'm not the type to pile on because the Lord knows Auburn's had it's offseason fun in the not too distant past, but Saban's really not looking good here.
1. Sign a freak of nature in a position of need that still has outstanding criminal matters for beating up on a woman. Chokes another woman in your college town.
2. Let a guy who has gotten behind the wheel drunk TWICE stay on the team... senior starter (or at least key player).
3. Sophomore reserve player buried on depth chart gets busted for a pot offense, shown the door almost immediately.
Now, I read Saban's comment about Jones not agreeing to the rules in place... but let's cut through the bullshite for a minute. Key players/superstars - you convince them to accept the rules put out in front of them because you want them to stay. You form the rules with keeping them in mind. I doubt Jones was given similar treatment to the other 2 (I know Taylor's was part of a recruiting pitch, but still).
At this point, I think Saban would have looked better if he'd have just kept Jones around. At least it would be consistent. Showing him the door basically proves to me how subjective he is with judging character/handing out punishments with talent and position needs in mind.

Tyren Jones was not a tough stringer you morons. He was before the suspension and arrest expected to be the back up to Henry and he played a lot near the end of last season.

Tyren Jones was expected to play over Kenyan Drake?

One guy booted, zero tolerance. Another guy booted, on suspension, fricked up. Another guy on suspension, may or may not return to team. Sorry if that isnt up to Auburn standards. Give it 2 weeks, Bama is practicing to whoop arse. Good luck.
