D2 isn't that much different than D1. Key differences are size & athleticism.

All due respect, that is like saying CYC is no different than AAU ball. Yes, they both use a round ball and the dimensions are the same, but the similarities end there.

So why aren't P5 programs lining up to hire successful D2 coaches?

They're all stupid. Ask Tigerboard.

HCKA's problem isn't that he was a D2 coach.

Imagine a young, up n comer that won at D2 and gets a shot at D1.

HCKA's problem is that he's old, and also uncool.

HCKA is a Stricklen.

HCKA is a life coach more than a basketball coach, which is cool at like a military academy, or a prep school, not in the jungle of P5 athletics.

Relationships to coach D1 you have to have relationships with AAU and handlers that tend to be exclusive to D1. Anderson's biggest question mark coming in was can he recruit.

Agree with that with the exception that typically the D1 shot that an up and coming D2 coach gets is usually at Western Kentucky or the like and once they prove themselves there they may land a job at a place like Mizzou.

It doesn't mean shite to the entire Kentucky roster

I have seen it and it is sloppy at times. So is watching University of Memphis, half the schools in the SEC, half the teams in Conference USA, and the lower half of every conference out there except the Big 10 and ACC.

Since ESPN, Fox sports, and all of the other sports networks have been around fundamentals have been flushed down the toilet. I remember when a team shot .800 from the free throw line that was considered average. Now that is the best free throw shooting team in the world.

HCKA won 30 games or more 3 times in his career. At any level that is impressive. Give him a chance he needs 3 years. Year 1 is gone 2 more to go.

He'll get 3 years assuming next year is not a repeat of this year. I wouldn't be shocked to see an AD even give him a 3rd year despite winning 8 games again. I don't think anyone is suggesting firing him now. I think most people are just calling it for what it is currently. If KA doesn't want to be called out for the shite show he put on in the past 9 months, he's in the wrong profession.

I am. I'll admit I was not a fan whatsoever of this hire, but was content with giving him a chance.

However; the fact that you saw no progression or improvement over the season, AND now the beginning of defection which will only increase the the timeline to turning the program around. I say cut your loses now.

I'd also be curious to hear the behind the scenes story of why there were so many suspensions.

You and me both. If they all arose out of a single incident, I could understand it better. But given the number of suspensions all at different times to so many different guys for allegedly different incidents leaves me with little doubt that KA was overzealous in doling them out. The numbers are just too great and I won't believe that they were all justified until I hear what they were for. I just don't believe even half of them would have been handed down for the same supposed infractions if it were year 5 and they were 12-3 at the time.

Insubordination.

HCKA does as HCKA sees fit.

The problem with this is it can go on and on. It could easily take 5 years before the reasons are gone and you've proven it's KA.

I originally thought the KA thing could turn out alright. I was wrong. This isn't going to end well, and I'm concerned about how long it's going to take to end.
