Don't forget, outlawjoseywales, that winning a D-II championship is supposedly no different than winning a high school championship.
Mizzou hired a glorified high school coach...nothing more.

I just thank goodness we didn't waste money on someone that might have done something. We're getting this at half the price.

They must give out D2 championships like participation trophies in grade school. /s

How would you feel if we hired Linc Darner?

Ray Harper
Kentucky Wesleyan: 2 Division 2 national championships and 4 runner ups in 9 years
Oklahoma City: 2 NAIA national championships and 1 runner up in 3 years.
Western Kentucky: 2nd round twice in 4 years
10 times better resume than KA and I'd still say he needs to be on a short leash if he had the season like KA just did for Mizzou.

Exactly. For those arguing what a D2 national championship qualifies you for....Western Kentucky is your answer. That is 2 national titles and 4 runner-ups. Not one.

HCKA at Central Missouri was there for 12 years and had one losing season, his first year there.
HCKA will succeed if he can recruit the state of Missouri the next 3 years. Something Haith did not do at all and Anderson not very well.
You have to be able to coach to win in Division II. You have NO superstars to take your team all the way. It IS a team effort. Give him a chance.

Again, he'll get his chance. I'll use the college analogy again. Most people(coaches) finish college in anywhere from 3 to 5 years. If my son (KA here) comes home after his freshman year and has a 0.50 GPA, you can bet your arse I'm gonna be all over him. Doesn't mean he doesn't have time to get his GPA up there, but he better get to working right away because as of now, he's on academic probation for his first year performance.
Hopefully KA can get a 2.0 his sophomore year to bring his overall GPA up, but another 0.50 and he needs to be yanked just like my son would be, whether by the school or by me.

The HC before a coaches initials is so stupid.

If he can land all the 5* and 4* players in state, then sure, I'll buy that we'll be ok. So far he's 0 for 3 on instate 4* and above players, and has only landed one 4* player on his own ever. Next year there's 5* Tatum, who was never going to come here, 4* Cook who we still have a shot with, and 3* Sneed who I've read is not a fan of KA. After that I see no other ranked instate players, taking Puryear and VanLeer level players every year will just tank us faster.

The argument could be made that we had 2 guys returning that bought into the system and 1 of them just decided he's not, in fact, going to return.
Clark - Not buying in and suspended
Isabell - Not buying in and suspended
Gant - Not buying in and suspended
Wright - Not buying in and suspended
Allen - Not buying in and suspended
Teki - Not buying in and suspended
Bello - Not buying in and suspended
Rosburg - Bought in and never suspended
J3 - Never suspended but apparently also didn't buy in.

Just because every player on the team was suspended at some point doesn't mean they haven't bought in.
The only way to really know will be seen by us fans in November. do they put in the work to be better both individually & and as a team. We won't see that until fall.

If he has a repeat of this season next year he will be fired.
It isnt looking promising for him at the moment either.

I watched some of the D2 championship on YouTube halfway through the season. I don't think it is what you think it is. It's not some masterpiece of Xs and Os.

I don't think he really is going to get a chance though. 2 years is not a fair chance in a rebuild.
Like I said though, a lot of that is his own doing and he could have went the Haith transfer/Juco route instead of opting for a rebuild.
Just sucks because looks like we'll be doing this all over again soon.

D2 isn't that much different than D1. Key differences are size & athleticism.
Most offenses that work at the D2 level also work at the D1 level.
D2 does tend to be more spead based due to lack of size and more shooters.

Tells me that either they didn't buy into some aspect of KA's philosophy or it tells me KA was a tad bit overzealous.

Yeah, I heard that story before. After UMKC, it was just wait until conference play. Then it was by the time the season is over. Now it's next November. I'll guess that if we lose to UMKC again, we'll be told to wait until conference play again.

So why aren't P5 programs lining up to hire successful D2 coaches?
