As much as this sucks, if it means Mizzou hits rock bottom sooner rather than later, it might not be too bad. Two completely horrible years is better than one, long burnout over four or five years.

We were supposed to have already hit rock bottom. I would like to think that having the worst season in the history of Mizzou hoops was already rock bottom.

What is worse than 2 horrible years is 3 horrible years followed by 4 or 5 years trying to fix the mess.

IF he's leaving because Fuller is gone, that's weak. While JW III was maybe our best player, he's not all-world.

I wish him the best wherever he goes!

Based on Wes' Twitter, it may not be the only breaking news for our roster today.

Sounds like he didn't have any friends....or embrace the student-athlete spotlight.

I couldn't care less about his career or new team.

Per PowerMizzou:
"J3'a father told me they don't yet have a list of schools his son will look at for next year".

Which I read as, "anywhere but here".

I can't help but take that as an insult. I have no ill will for him. It just sucks.

Officially they probably need to get that release first. Not sure if other schools could talk to him (officially) without it so all they'd be doing is getting his future school in trouble if that's the case. Don't know that that is the rule but believe so.

"Coach Anderson has a way with words," said Williams II, who is fond of Anderson. "He told (Williams III the last time they talked) that the grass may not always be greener on the other side."

Yeah buddy, KA is a smooth operator and an oracle of words.

I think part of the problem is that most of what we're hearing is actually coming from his dad. You might recall, he spoke out when Haith left and wasn't right and J3 has even made comments about how he spoke out of turn and shouldn't have said anything. It seems that is happening again.

My guess is that J3 has talked with his dad, they made a decision to ask for the release but hadn't actually done that yet, his dad spoke out and said that J3 has asked for his release, KA got wind of it and said J3, come sit down and talk with me and if you still want your release I'll give it to you.

I don't think we've actually heard anything from J3 or the school yet.

Is the rules for transfering from school to school in the conference different in basketball? The reason I ask is I was listening to local sports radio here in Memphis and they were talking about what Rick Barnes inherited at UT. They were talking about how bad the recruiting class was ( shocking that another school has a bad recruiting class. Only Missouri has those) and that Barnes should look at all the transfers out there. JWIII name came up as one they should go after.

Same rule as football. Have to sit out 2 years.
Although when White transferred from Texas to Mizzou in football the coaches agreed to waive the 2 year rule. Could of been because we were leaving the conference.

I'm not sure if I've ever heard of a 2-year sit out rule....?

Those who transfer within conference in the SEC or Atlantic Coast Conference not only must sit out a year, but could lose a year of eligibility. In the ACC, an athlete would have to pay his or her own way and would lose a year even if they have a redshirt year to use. The SEC says if the school from which the athlete is transferring doesn’t get permission for the other school to contact, the athlete would have to pay his or her own way the first year, under NCAA rules, but that a redshirt year could be used if an individual hasn’t used it yet.

Not so much sitting out an extra year as possibly loosing a year of eligibility in addition to sitting out.
