So fricking what, Marshall has shown to be very hard to pry him away from WSU. It may or may not happen. If not, the search goes on. The guy knew what he wanted though and stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kudos.
All of this! If we don't get Marshall, at least he went for the biggest available fish in the pond. If Marshall comes to Alabama, frick you Serraneaux, you butt chugging hillbilly!

I want to disagree with you, but I have to admit - if anybody knows about sucking, it's a vol.

Damn, thought this meant we fired Hart. Got my hopes up for no reason. You bastard

Bill Battle had a 59–22–2 record in seven seasons in Knoxville, you can only dream of times like that now.

Butch Jones- 2-2 in bowls and 2 top 25 finishes in 9 years of head coaching.
Bill Battle- 4-1 in bowls and 5 top 25 finishes in 7 years of head coaching.

Butch Jones rebuilds.
Bill Battle destroyed.
Battle sucked once he ran out of Doug Dickey's players.

1970 11–1 4–1
1971 10–2 4–2
1972 10–2 4–2
1973 8–4 3–3
1974 7–3–2 2–3–1
1975 7–5 3–3
1976 6–5 2-4
Progressively worse as the years went by.
Some of Battle's bowl games. The ones you were bragging about?
Other than the Sugar Bowl he won with a team built by Doug Dickey, the Gator Bowl was the only decent bowl game he went to, and he lost that one.

Is this a real argument? I thought it was more tongue in cheek. If he was a good coach, he would have gotten back into coaching after leaving Tennessee. He had better talents in business.

Bill Battle was the youngest D1 coach in the country when he took the reigns at UT. Yes...he had a drop off at the end of his time there. Let's look at it a bit by comparison.
In his last three seasons at UT (1974-1976), he was 20-13-2. Between 1968-1970, Bear Bryant was 20-13-1. I'm not saying that Battle was a Bryant...but Bear had enough success behind him that he was given a bit of leniency during his worst three years. Since it was Battle's first gig...he wasn't.
I will say that I am biased, because I am actually old enough to have met Bill Battle. He was, and is, a class act.

I am old enough to remember Battle too. Yes, he was a class act.
No, he was not a good coach. Yes, he was a GREAT business man.
AD? You'll have to ask the Bammers, but I hope he sucks.

I was there. Battle inherited a championship contending team from Doug Dickey and ran it into the ground. Butch inherited a steaming pile of kimshi from Doolander and is building it into a championship contending team.

when fired from ut he went to CPB and talked about his future. Bryant told him to think about where he wanted to be in 10 years, and he chose buisness. I saw somewhere his net worth was north of $1,000,000,000. Billion.
Not bad for a washed up vol coach.
PS. you did him a big favor when you let him go.
